This guy -- wont leave, its what they do.

You need to drill into him its over - get the locks done and booking a room somewhere might be a good idea as per above but dont they have the council to go to for rooms? either way it will just drag on and on and on and why I will never go renting out a house to anyone

Years back I was paying around £800/month plus council tax and bills for a squalid flat and paid all my bills and everything to the point - for around 3 years when I buggered off and got my own gaff - the landlord had the audacity to charge me upon leaving the depost for damage to the house - -unlucky for him I took before and after photos and his monetary reward he got was a liightbulb that was blown in the kitchen - the TDS held the deposit

You just cant win

This afternoon's conversation is planned in my head.

Have you got the keys to your new house?

No. (with excuses)

Right. Well I've looked on line, and you can rent a storage room for £10 a week, so I suggest you do that because if all your stuff is not gone by Sunday lunch time it's going out the front door by Sunday Afternoon.

Some feable response.

Look, if you have no where to go, book into a hotel. There's places in Stoke for £30 a night. It's not my problem.

...........

Repeatedly say the exact same thing until Sunday afternoon. When I change the locks and phone the police.

He went at 3:55 pm

When I got back from work on Friday, he was vague about when he was getting the keys. I could tell their was truth mixed with lies.
What I think he'd done was move his tenancy start date to Sunday to time his new jobs pay day. But he hadn't got the new AST. So I'm only imagining what excuses are going to be on Sunday afternoon.
I keep saying, why don't you phone her and agree a handover time.
I also suggested he get a storage unit and start moving the stuff Saturday morning.
Anyway, on Saturday morning I sat him down, and explained that I thought he had 5 or 6 car loads of stuff and it would take about 2 hours per car load, and if he got the keys mid morning on Sunday there was no way he'd have time, so If he hadn't got thd keys by lunch time Saturday, I would give him £10 for a storage unit and he could do 2 trips on Saturday afternoon. This kind offer, seemed to push him into reality. Within 20 mins he'd spoken to the landlord, and the keys were in a key safe outside the front door. It took him another 3 hours to get his st together, and eventually he filled his car and did thd first trip.
He looked fking shattered on his return, so I gave him a portion of the chilli I'd made. And then he went to pack more stuff. Then he went out and bought a bottle of scotch and gave me a glass. It was rough stuff. I suggested he should perhaps stick to one glass because he had a long day ahead.
I woke up this morning with dreed. Expecting him to be in bed until lunch time. No. I came downstairs at 6:30 and he was gone, on his 1st trip of the day.
He got back about 8:30, and his mate came around and they took 2, cars in the next trip, about 10am he got back at midday and I gave him bacon and eggs.
He fell asleep on the sofa til 1:30 and then spent the next 2 hours packing the rest of his stuff into the car. Finally he hovered the room.
It's a bit dusty and his bathroom can't have been cleaned in weeks, but there's no damage, then I shook his hand and waved him off. I haven't changed the locks yet.
I'll clean the place up properly tomorrow night.

It's a relief to have the place to myself. Now to get it ready to sell.

Glad it all went well mate. I dont think hes a bad person, just one of these types who is a little 'disconnected with reality' - they need a firm shove in the right direction sometimes.

Ill share a recent lodger story briefly.

- Lodger/ 41/ M/ Divorcee moved into my spare room as his wife (Lives nearby) is divorcing him. Hes a dentist and went to University! Smart guy right?

He annoyed my GF due to his cack handedness and refusal to help clean the bathroom/ kitchen.

We served notice, and on the day before he moved out, his car broke down! (I drove him down to his new flat) but the story of the breakdown is interesting.

- He broke down (Suspension spring broke on OSF) in his work car park 15 miles from where we live, and called Green Flag to recover him.
- He had himself recovered... to one street along from ours!!

I asked him why he didnt have it recovered to a garage - he said he didnt know he could do that!

He then rings his car insurance company to get get quotes for repair!!

He was moved out at this point, and the car was sitting there, so I asked him if he could contact a garage directly and i recommended the one I use. He then starts calling Green flag (His breakdown insurer) to get it moved again! Surprisingly they did, not at all suspicoius that they are recovering it from the exact spot they dropped it off broken two weeks ago

In the end, he got it moved and repaired by the garage.

Lovely guy, I just dont think he has an ounce of common sense!
