What to wear at an interview for a senior job tomorrow?
Discussion
Suit for definite.
Plain tie and pattern shirt or
Pattern short and plain tie.
First impressions matter, and a lack of effort on that first interview may not get you a second interview.
If there are multiple candidates of similar skill set. You are competing with them and there is no point in giving yourself a disadvantage.

Unless I am going for a beach lifeguard job, I tend to avoid patterned shorts for an interview

No-one (sensible that you’d want to work for) will judge you negatively for overdressing.
I’m in various job processes at the moment and I know I will have to squeeze myself into my one remaining suit when it comes to face to face interview time.
This is the advice you will hear time and time again and its less stress: it is better to be over dressed than under dressed. No-one (sensible that you’d want to work for) will judge you negatively for overdressing.

Suit up to the 9s and walk in like you own the place.
