Mrs G had second consultation today - they have 'generously' rounded up her length of service from 2yrs 11months to 3yrs, but have not proposed to give her 3 weeks redundancy or notice pay. She will be leaving the job on 30th Sept come whatever, as the branch closes. Looks like they will be holding it out another week before actually making people redundant. She is hoping to be not made redundant until the last few day, so she gets more notice after leaving.

All i can say id thank god she has another job in the pipeline, as we would be stuffed otherwise.

Whether they do it now or on the 29th it doesn't matter - once she is formally made redundant (in writing) she'll almost certainly be entitled to three months notice plus redundancy pay. If there is no workplace, then they should just pay it on the last day she works there and put her on "gardening leave" for the rest. It will not matter if the branch is open or closed. So, don't panic.

She doesnt get 3 months notice. She gets a weeks notice per year served - in her case 2/3. I wish she got 12 weeks as that would see us thorugh for a decent christmas!

I think you're unclear on this.
Wherever notice period is in her contract must be paid at normal salary.
Redundancy is a seperate payment, which as already mentioned by someone else, can be statutory - a max of £330ish per year of service. Some companies enhance this to 1-2 weeks full salary as opposed to statutory.

Statutory redundancy is paid at anywhere between 0.5 weeks or 1.5 weeks depending on age per full year of service. The cap on a week's payment is due to rise from £350 to 380.
