Job Applications
Discussion
I'v currently just completed my Masters in property and am looking for a job. I am now writing some speculative applications to local companies asking whether they have an requirements for a graduate or if there is a chance of some work experience.
Previously when I have written an application I have applied to a seperate HR department however now I am applying straight to the head of the company as they are smaller local companies. These are directors etc have professional memberships etc after there name i.e. Joe Bloggs BSc MRICS should I include these when writing in the letter?

Thanks Doofus, I guess most of the HR personel probably do have letters after there names...
Basically I have done a conversion course after my undergraduate degree so have studied MSc Real Estate Management for 12 months which is a RICS (Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors) accredited course meaning that I can find a job and become a chartered surveyor in a couple of years time.

Thanks. I wondered if it was a specific qualification, or something non-vocational. musclecarmad said:
this is the trouble with degrees and masters mate.
trouble is that all my mates with masters normally just expect decent jobs
where have you been working - won't they keep you on?
surely some hands on experience is what you need.
I dont expect just to walk into a decent job, I just need to find something to give me that experience. I dont mind if its unpaid work that I get as long as its experience. trouble is that all my mates with masters normally just expect decent jobs

I currently dont have a job, only completed the course three weeks ago. So I am just applying to every job/internship that I can find that is within the property industry.

What do people think on having a profile and aspirations section at the beginning of a CV? Personally I cant see the point in them, but if its whats needed then I should create one.
It's horses for courses I'm afraid, some like it, some don't.If I had to make the choice for you, I'd say include it...
