hi all,

I am 22 and applying for some Aerospace engineering apprenticeships starting 2011. I know there will be lots of applications for these and want to try and make it so i stand out a bit more as i don't have an engineering backgruond.

Does anybody have any advice/suggestions for shorts course etc to do first? I have decided to do a couple of the practical modules from the EASA license course and I am going to try and arrange some work experience but I really want to do everything i possibly can to increase my chances.

any suggestions welcome.

thanks all

You don't really need any specific courses, the apprenticeship will teach you all that you need to rewire a Tyhoon cockpit blindfolded.

The better candidates are those that come across as being versatile, eager, enthusiastic and willing to learn smile In the meantime, as you've suggested, keep yourself busy with a course or two.

There's some useful apprentice info here www.baesystems.com

These guys might be able to help.

Have you tried e-mailing the likes of:

And asking them outright? Im sure they would appreciate some proactive thinking. Something along the lines of: Dear Sir, I wish to become the best Apprenticeship you have ever had can you suggest how I can better myself before applying for one of your apprenticeships.
