I'd be persistent mate, nothing demonstrates your commitment to the role more than persistence. Why give up at the first hurdle if you REALLY want the job. Keep applying and improving your CV/ App, maybe even call Siemens and see the kind of CV / app they are looking for. You might make a contact out of it.
Siemens are looking for 10 service tech's in Norfolk, go on there website, job ID# 77974.Sparky79 said:

hiJust checked that out, I have mechanical engineering quals, but not in electrical. They mention in the advert ''The role will provide you with lots of variety, learning opportunities''Also says you'd be doing the 7 weeker up in newcastle
Can any tell me what they do and learn about in 7 weeks...and who are the 7 weeks training courses aimed at.. people who have no experience within the wind turbine sector?

As far as I know mate EVERYBODY does the 7 weeks. Its an introduction to Siemens, their expectations then you do training on all the components they use etc and you will complete any training you specifically need i.e. hub rescue, ropes, working at height etc etcJust checked that out, I have mechanical engineering quals, but not in electrical. p.s. I notice with every new wind turbine vacancy Siemens are upping the requirements. Start of the year it was just elec or mechan qualifications, two months ago it was experience with rotating parts, hydraulics etc and now its all these plus demonstrable experience of working with HSE paperwork. They are clearly upping the game!!

As an interested thread surfing PH'er, I'm at a loss as to what this means. Certificate to Work experiences? are they looking to recruit from experienced "sector" candidates?? can you elucidate???

Nothing in particular other than the normal stuff. The best advice would be to keep it clear & concise in terms of relevant experience for the job, so highlighting things like working at heights, mechanical/electrical experience, quals, tickets etc etc.Sparky79 - what format did you use as you have got to a more recent interview?? thanks.
Obviously it goes without saying but make sure the spelling and grammar is spot on, if they're getting that many applications those kind of errors could see your CV hitting the bin very quickly.

At least you found out pretty quickly and not hanging on for a couple of weeks. What C&G do you have btw - 2330 or the 2356/nvq electrotechnical services? I would have guessed you could end up self funding a PV installation course and/or C&G 2399 for your MCS accreditation if you wanted to be accredited as an individual. Check out the PV section here http://www.electriciansforums.co.uk/ if you haven't already as there are a lot of knowledgable people in the industry post and could help you out with info and/or placement.
Unlucky on the Siemens job though, i'm still waiting to hear if/when any interviews are taking place - the best things come to those who wait I believe! Where was your interview - Newcastle or Kendal (or anywhere else?) and was it for a install tech or service tech?

thanks mate, seems I'm doing the right thing then as I always treble check the spelling and get the old man to read my stuff through as he's one of these grammar Nazi's in his old age!Obviously it goes without saying but make sure the spelling and grammar is spot on, if they're getting that many applications those kind of errors could see your CV hitting the bin very quickly.

Not sure if this might interest anybody - http://www.prontoport.co.uk/careers.php
They usually only take on experienced guys.ETA: Didn't mean that to sound overly negative, always worth registering your CV but make sure you've got 'Siemens Level 3' in bold.

yeah, it's certainly not an option for me, not enough direct experience but guys who've been working longer might see it as worth a go;)ETA: Didn't mean that to sound overly negative, always worth registering your CV but make sure you've got 'Siemens Level 3' in bold.

do you have any paper qualifications for any of the competencies? i.e. electrical certs, working at height, rope access etc? Thanks in advance..
Hi Windman, yes i have all the relative paperwork regarding my qualifications. I have done a tower scaffold and health and safety course but they were a few years back now and have long since expired.(also lost certs for them) I did an indentured modern apprenticeship so have city and guilds 1&2 and nvqs'1,2,3 and also passed my AM2 at the end of it all..
Thanks for replying.
