On the 21st of December I was offered a job to work at waitrose part time to fit around my college work.

I went on holiday on boxing day to the 7th of January so nothing could be done and they said that was fine.

When I got back the woman who interviewed me hadn't told my future boss that I had been put through the second stage of interviewing.

After a few weeks of endless phone calls I had my second interview and a few days later recieved an e-mail that I had the job.

I was sent a health form which I filled in, then another arived which had to be sent to another place. I have no health issues at all so this cant be the problem to the delay in time.

I am now starting to get really pissed off as everyone was blameing each other for lack of communication. Now it's been over a week since I sent my health forms (first class stamp) and have had nothing back. I rang them up after the first forms and they said that they had to wait for the form to reach them and they would "call me back", nothing for 2 weeks.

Do I ring them up and ask WTF is going on or ring them up and remain calm.

I really didn't think that the John Lewis partnership could be run this badly.

Advice required.

Ring them up and remain calm is probably the best way forward smile

I had a telephone interview for a temporary census collector job end of November, they still haven't decided yet on whether they are going to use me or not. The deadline for applications has been increased fortnightly from early Dec to currently, end of Feb. An e.mail they sent to me earlier this month, after I'd queried the lack of response, was that they couldn't confirm any positions until all applications were in, and some areas hadn't received enough applications.
Those 'areas' being dodgy ones that no-one would want to be chasing round for census forms biggrin

I've just had a similar experience of sorts.

Had an interview this Tuesday, all went well. I got an email from them that evening saying they were keen to meet me again as soon as possible to discuss my role and salary and asked if I could send these details to them and fix a date to come in and see them.

I replied by email with a letter attached yesterday morning at 9am stating my current salary and the role I desire and also suggested times and dates to meet. Since then I've heard nothing, no email or phone calls. I am starting to wonder if A) They've changed there mind or B) My salary is too high. Or maybe I am just over thinking the situation and all will be fine.

Just to give you some perspective - it was 5 months after I applied for the job that I got the interview, they called to check whether I was still interested (which obviously I was) they then said they would call back to arrange an interview date, which they did 3 weeks later(!) asking me to go for the interview the next day, I had to drop everything, book a last minute holiday day and cancel meeting to be there.

It makes me wonder whether I want to work for someone so disorganised!

Ditto.

Had a call from soemone that I'd applied to back in early December, asking if I could interview on Monday. Asked them what their expectations were around start dates (given I'm also looking at an overseas opportunity) and they said "early April". Which implies they want people to be interviewed (presumably more than once), sort out contractual stuff, resign and start work in the space of a month....

"Piss up" and "brewery" began to spring to mind....

I got the e.mail for the 1 month census collector position yesterday - conditional on me filling in referee forms on-line today( took over 1.5 hours as it kept timing out). Also had to e.mail their query team as the forms were too employee focused and didn't really allow for periods of unemployment/self employment. Photocopies of ID and passport photo also has to be sent today...with an e-learning course to be completed today/tomorrow.

3 months to let me (and others) know - and now a rush panic as the census is next month.
