I know what you're saying. Anything could happen yet. She is only 6 weeks pregnant at the most. So many things can happen and change between now and December.
I think a lot of us are forgetting that this is a bit more to both of you than just your OH getting a job and getting the bills paid.

Belated congratulations and I hope it works out in all ways. smile

Hi guys,

My wife and I are just about to start looking for work but we just found out she is 6 weeks pregnant. Obviously this will have a major impact on her chances of getting a job. She doesn't want to not tell an employer because she thinks it is a low act to get a job then tell them in a few months "guess what!" and I can see her point.

I am sure we aren't the only people to have ever been in this position before and she really needs to work as we are going to need to qualify for a mortgage asap.
This reads really oddly - as if you've suddenly decided you need to buy a house, so you'll therefore need to get jobs. What are you doing at the moment?

A lender is unlikely to be interested in lending to you if you've both only been working for a short time, and of course that supposes that you can both quicky get permanent jobs. within a couple of mths it's likely to very obvious that your OH is expecting so why on earth would any employer want to take her on?

Sounds perfect. I wonder if there are specialist recruiter filling these spots? I will have to look it up smile
All recruiters do them, just look for fixed term contracts on their websites.
