Id say the same with the exception Id have the oil changed before hand and give it a flush through and changed again few hundred gentle miles later.Tyres will either be ruined or fine... its 1.3k for a complete set though and id be thinking they will need replacing!... might need new brakes as well but seeing as its on a hill it should be able to break the rust seal that will have occured.
as for the comment about it not being a vintage ferrari.... true, no vintage ferrari's have as advanced or powerful engine as the M5! they are all boat anchors in comparison lol

4 years sat stagnant would have ruined all the hoses, possibly damaged / rusted the insides of the engine where the oil has long since drained to the sump, killed the coolant, killed the plugs, killed the fuel system etc. Only a brave person would buy it like that and they'll want it for less than a song, maybe just scrap. Get it fixed up and you'll only have the explanation to do deal with, which if backed by a BMW invoice you should be able to get away with. Weigh up what the costs are and take it from there.
if anyone is looking for an e61 tourer i may be selling mine, i have a contract in kuwait on the cards (out of the blue) and it will be left on the drive not quite for 4 yrs but likely to be at least 1 yr. i have 4 cars and the M5 is the one id get rid off..... 07 reg silverstone 2 £17k or thereabouts...

It's not unusual for Wayne Carini on Charing Classic Cars to prep quite basically and start up some almost priceless classic car that has been sitting in a garage for upto 30 yrs, untouched. Whilst the engine and electrics are nowhere near as complex as an M5 he seems somewhat insouciant about it.

Good question. Ask some of the HNW American East Coast owners of historic Bugattis, Duesenbergs and Panhards, amongst others. Love CCC but there are too many repeats and some of those beauties are too Molly cuddled as well as over restored.playalistic said:

Not sure it will be an easy sell at £20k. Granted there are none in AUC stock at the moment but a few months ago when metsta's car was for sale by previous private owner (having been freshly serviced) for less than it is for sale for now, I still didn't consider it 'good value' when compared to an a number of AUC cars for mid £20's.......With these cars, as a prospective purchaser, the 1 (or 2 if you are lucky) year AUC warranty (and lower cost monthly warranty thereafter) / record of recent major consumables done, is more important to me than saving <£5k by buying a higher mileage private sale car. The difference could quickly be used up in a) higher cost of non-monthly warranty on car over 60k or b) major items needing replacement.
Although having said that there is always a price point at which you would take the gamble, IMO would have to be £7.5k in my pocket to take the 'gamble'. The previous seller got it about right I would say when pitched against AUC stock - although metsta has the advantage as at today of there precisely 'zero' AUC E61's in the network, so supply and demand and all that.........
Frustrating really as I am in a position to buy and there are so few to consider, would love to find a late (58/09/59?) E61 M5 but seem non-existent. Driven E61 m5 and C63 estate (with PPP) and found the m5 much more involving. However, being drawn to the C63 due to more availability as beginning to get impatient now.
Well open to offers maybe. Plus its down south now not in Dumfries. At about £18 - £19k there just isn't another for sale anywhere close on price and I'm in no rush don't need the money and happy to keep using it for now with no warranty, maybe a trip to Hayward and Scott next week.also add in 4 new tyres,privacy glass,12 months tax and M5 plate was nearly £2000 all in so do the math when I paid £17,500 in Scotland.
