M6 Competition Pack....delivered :)
Discussion
Thanks a lot chaps...much appreciate the comments, especially given the typical lack of M6 love
The wheels are also getting better with time - I reckon they do suit it in real life. Shame BMW skimped by not making them forged
Haven't thought about winter tyres to be honest - had them last year on the missus's Mini JCW and they were awesome so I'll probably put them on our other car (currently a E350 Coupe, but I've just ordered a new 335d xDrive, which I'm about to 'adjust' to an order for a 135i lol!)
Heres the before (notice the orange peel above the side repeater)
Heres the during phase (I shat myself when I saw the car in this state!)
And voila....95% of the orange peel gone

I think you will find your last M6 had the same valves on the exhaust system?
Err....quite possibly! But I have to be honest, I never noticed it and I normally would spot things like that. This exhaust does sound different though - slightly louder and more raspy.mondie said:
That looks fantastic, thanks for the very balanced review. The steering and exhaust are to me the main attractions of the CP so its good to see the steering is much improved, shame about the exhaust. Your pics are the frst time I have found myself really like the CP wheels. Are winter tyres a consideration for you, if so wondering what you are planning there?
Cheers
Simon
Had a 'spirited' drive home in it today and the steering improvements impress me the more I get used to it - it's so much more direct meaning a lot less arm twirling is required.Cheers

Thanks for taking the time to post, very informative and honest.
Car looks fantastic, I really wanted that colour for the M5 but computer says no The interior looks lovely and as you said the contrast stitching takes it up another level.
Funny because if it was available on the M6, I'd have gone for the M5's Monte Carlo blue!Car looks fantastic, I really wanted that colour for the M5 but computer says no The interior looks lovely and as you said the contrast stitching takes it up another level.

Wow!
Fancy a swap/ compare with my M135i?
Erm....see above. Might change the missus's car for one of these as I hear they're rather good??? I'm sure the 135i compares very favourably on a bumpy twisty backroad Fancy a swap/ compare with my M135i?

Decent sized brakes on a BMW, finally. Don't like the look of the discs though
You do know that ceramic brakes are meant to look like that (i.e. full of little cracks)? W8PMC said:
Very nice.
What colour Blue is that? First thought was MCB but looks more vibrant.
San Marino Blue - I think it's (currently) exclusive to the M6 (or at least the M6 was that colours launch car)What colour Blue is that? First thought was MCB but looks more vibrant.

All I can say is.......fk me, what a car
I'm hopefully about to push the button an an LCI M5 but if I had the extra cash that would be sitting on my drive
Enjoy it
You probably don't need that much extra budget as theres a lot more support and discount on the M6, helping close the gap considerably.I'm hopefully about to push the button an an LCI M5 but if I had the extra cash that would be sitting on my drive

They're only 10mm bigger than the standard steels!!

Size is not everything They feel very different despite the marginal size increase and it would be impossible to fit bigger brakes inside the 20" wheels.http://www.6post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=64746...

I'm sure they are considerably better, my comment was more a chuckle at the statement that BMW have finally fitted some "big" brakes http://www.6post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=64746...

Disappointingly though, when I removed the wheels (yes, I'm probably the only person to take delivery of their new car yesterday and immediately remove the wheels to seal the inside of them!) it seems the CP wheels aren't forged! Scandalous on BMW's part when you consider the non-CP 20" wheels are forged and these CP wheels were part of a £6k+ option.
Nice write up, beautiful car.One observation, you need to be unbelievably careful when removing wheels with the Ceramics. The slightly knock to the disk, however small, will damage them and you know that's big bucks. My dealer told me if I wanted them to change the tyres at any point in the future they would need a few days notice in order to get in the tyre lifting device (see below).

Surprised they don't come with a wee tool like Porsche, couple like these would do the trick? One observation, you need to be unbelievably careful when removing wheels with the Ceramics.
