Having watched the market on these over the last couple of years its clear as day to say buying a good example for 25k is well in the past! I had the privilege of owning one when back in the mid 00's - do I regret selling ? yep, but simply for how the car car drove and looked. If I could buy one now for what I'd sold mine for I'd jump at it! I'd also happily pay 35k for one to just to get behind the wheel again if I had the money to do so.

I'm sure this black one at 60k has been up for sale in the last year or so too! possibly listed on pistonheads at 25k by a private seller - some of the info and pictures ring bells.

The current dealer who has this car also had the low millage red m3 owned by an Arab and also had a black car with an evo 2 front lower spoiler - possibly an F reg - for around 60k the same time..

That said I'd like to know why the white m3 on eBay has been there for some time now. If the market is at 35k for fairly good cars, this seems a good example with just a few cosmetic issues to address. Has anyone seen this car?

The market is a funny thing as said! looking at the 325i sport / motorsport cabs now - the market for.those is all over the place. Mint examples are 15k upwards but there are plenty still popping up at 10k or less including cars that have been restored etc..

Absolutely, I would consider mine to be a good, honest and original car and unless personal reasons dictated then I would never sell it for 25k. The auction result speaks for itself.

One thing I will say though is that the market is very tricky to understand, I'm about to sell my 320is and gauging its 'value' is harder than you might think! I really don't want to send it to auction either.
If I were selling a 320iS I would be advertising it on the mobile.de, autoscout and alike,

The 325 wasnt a shed at all, i know the car.

A very low mileage 325 Sport would do 25K + now, today, and possibly more.

Can you confirm what the mileage was please?

Agreed I think you're right, however with those on Mobile.de and the two listed on Classic Cars for sale ( both circa 30k) there is still a wide spread of prices. As odd as it may sound the thought of sending it to auction feels like I wouldn't be doing right by the car! I must be getting sentimental as I get older smile

I don't class that as low mileage. Still high mileage. I would class anything under 90k as low mileage. Two of mine are under 90k. I still don't think it's worth 18k. I think I need to become a source to buy and sell cars as some people are paying over the odds.

That car was expensive, but it was low owners, the interior was pristine and original and the bodywork very straight, hard to find like that

This E30 Alpina Cabrio did £24990 at auction last week.

http://www.angliacarauctions.co.uk/en/classic-auct...

Restored and relatively low mileage, but it wouldn't have been my money as I personally find the cabrio one of the least desirable models made, the same as the M3 Cabrio.

And come on Ben, show us some photos of your cars, it's not difficult. wink

Here are some of mine, my 320is, sadly sold to a chap in Amsterdam, still regret letting it go. frown

If cars are sold without being advertised, they can hardly be cited as examples of market prices can they? They need to be a part of that market surely?

@Ben - Is this the £40k Cecotto?

Not all are perfect but a lot of them do have bad histories but as long as they are resolved it's all good.

Just usual E30 stuff but a 40k car will most likely be a few £K more to resolve.

Do your research.
Research, really...........?

I don't need to research that Cecotto, I know all about it.....
It's cecotto #358, and
here it is parked next to my Sport Evo back in 2006,

owned then by a chap called Paul from Cambridgeshire.

About a year after these picture were taken the car was involved in a RTA, T-bone at a roundabout by a drunk driver probably got some pictures on my old hard drive somewhere, and the car was written off by the insurance co, which expains why there is no MOT history from 2007 to 2014.................so a car with corrosion issues, on the 'hit list' not advertised for sale to the masses on the internet still sells for £40K which is £5-10K more that you think really good cars are worth. Go figure.....

Spot on but it wasn't Paul who just sold it. But the question is how much do you think this would fetch at auction or online on a serious note.

Very interesting E30M3SE.

So, Ben, to sum things up. For the last few pages of this forum you have been on here trying to educate the masses on how to buy E30 M3's.

In your opinion us normal plebs are all paying too much because you are pert of a secret underworld of select buyers and sellers who have access to cheap cars that never hit the open market. After numerous requests to publish photos of said cars you decline.

In now turns out that you are buying cars with very dubious histories that have been written off.......I wonder why they are not hitting the open market.

Thanks for the wise words on how to purchase an E30 M3 but I think I will pass on your advice.

To my mind a Cecotto is just a 215bhp car with a few cosmetic touches, it's a little bit more special than a regular 215bhp car, but not much.

Here we have a Cecotto that has been written off by an insurance company due to an accident that will be listed as Cat C , has recent corrosion issues, and has a mileage of circa 117,000.

There is no way I would give close to £40,000 for that particular car.

After all your talk Ben about cars being overpriced, you think this is good value? Are you serious?
