Apparently the car was converted to RHD before it was exported more than 20 years ago. Back then I don't think people cared for originality. It was probably seen more of an annoyance to its original owner. So he had the vehicle converted before its exportation or bought it already converted.
I agree with you on the seats. I can't understand why you wouldn't go full cloth or full leather not a mixture of the two. Its a relatively simple fix though.
That's great news on the belts, I thought they would be difficult to source. I'd imagine an M3 steering rack wont be easy to find though.

I found out a little more, although this car was never registered with the M registry.I agree with you on the seats. I can't understand why you wouldn't go full cloth or full leather not a mixture of the two. Its a relatively simple fix though.

It's a German market SE produced on Feb' 6th 1990 in jet black, with anthracite M sport cloth interior. It had the following options -
EDC
Electric sunroof
Power windows
Rear shade
Headlight adjustment
AC
Onboard computer
BMW Bavaria C Business radio
BMW sound system & cassette holder
If I find any more information I'll update this post.

Does look nice, but there is a lot going on with it.
Described as very low mileage and very high spec, but it doesn't have a Sport Evo front spoiler, the seats aren't original, and the BBS wheels aren't M3 wheels.
Why would it have a Sport Evo front splitter? It's not a Sport Evo and the front, or rear for that matter, spoliers were never available as factory options. It is wearing a Evo II front splitter not a factory option either.Described as very low mileage and very high spec, but it doesn't have a Sport Evo front spoiler, the seats aren't original, and the BBS wheels aren't M3 wheels.
The seats to my eye at least, and I should know, are OE Sport Evo seats in their factory leather finish.
Wheels look genuine enough to me too except the lips have been polished as opposed to being painted, easy enough resolved, the tinted rear windows grate on me more than the wheels.
As for the wheels, look closely where the spokes meet the rims.
The ones on the car finish too early with a definite rim.
I'm not sure what they are off, possibly E34, but they also look narrow, possibly 7x16?
Now compare them to the 16" wheel offered by BMW
Obviously Sport Evo in this photo, butin silver, the same as the wheels supplied by BMW

I've got a Z3 rack in mine and it's much better than the OE item. Even an e46 M3 rack from ebay.de will be an improvement over stock.
What makes it better? Presumably a E46CS would be even quicker steering?houlbt said:
Want! It's not horrendous in terms of reserve guide either. I'm sure I saw a car elsewhere for close to £300K and that wasn't even a race winner, but more of a tribute

This is absolutely stunning.....but just look at the asking price.
I didn't think I would see an Evo II break the £100,000 asking price barrier.

We're seeing I think a gradual topping out. Low miles SE's are £100K Decent cars are around £40-60K (probably 40-55 if you remove traders taking the piss )
Evo 2s are somewhere in between.
As ever my "hypothteitcal" £100K would go on a SE over a Evo2.

Ouch......that must sting a bit!! I'm sure you are sorry to have let that beauty go. It looks gorgeous.
I can't see that car going for any more than £80,000 on a very good day. As Rich W has mentioned, £100,00 is SE territory.
I can see that car going to the U.S., The Americans seem to be buying up all the nice SE's and Evo II's at the moment due to the strong dollar and the cars being over 25 years old now, which is a real shame as most cars will never see Europe again.
EAG in Cincinnati, Ohio have bought up about 5 SE's in as many months. They are pretty arrogant when it comes to buying and selling cars, they buy up the best BMW's and Alpina's that Europe has to offer, but only allow U.S residents to buy cars off them to ensure that the cars do not leave the U.S., nice double standard!! Hopefully this one will stay local.
And yes...For £105,000 asking, they could have fitted a new £100 expansion tank.

Hi all, I, as most of you no doubt have been, following this thread for some time.
Forgive me but, I have a1988 M3 which is currently undergoing some sympathetic resto'. I have very little history on the car, it was imported from Germany In 1998 and I was wondering if anyone can/knows how to trace it/options when built etc.
The Reg is E261 NWP but I have the original dealer doc with original German no. If it helps?
Any help/info would be appreciated .
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
To get the spec list when the car was new, put your VIN in to one of the decoder websites.
I use this one as well as a couple of others.

Oh, and put some photos up, everyone likes photos!
