This one in the PH classifieds seems a touch optimistic at £90K. The ad hardly sells it beyond wondering why its not at least £50K overpriced.

Nasty silicone hoses, incorrect hose clips, missing TB plastic caps, mis matched 15's (should be 16's), delaminating door trim panels, drill holes in the consul, discoloured tanks, ropey rad fins..... for £90K?!

And concours awards?` Was that the Ray Charles and Steve wonder awards?

Yes, think so too, incorrect roof antenna gives it away.

Yup.

£54,5K GBP And allegedly 140K kms (87.5K miles)

Makes a lot of the stuff on PH Classifieds seem over priced....

Nah, doesn't look like its been anywhere near Chelwood Gate hehe

TBH These cars are far from new. Even a SE will be 26years or so old now!

So finding one that hasn't had 1 or 2 dubious things is pretty tough. And obviously you'll have to pay accordingly. I'm not sure Id go all the way to Sweden for one, but if you had decent German skills and took a week to see some in mainland Europe to assess you'd probably find it worth while. And come back with a pretty decent one.

They tend to me more expensive in mainland Europe. The weak pound has seen to that.

When I sold my old white M3 two years ago most of the interest came from there.

The last 5-10 years has seen the reverse of the 90's import peak. Yours left the UK did it not Rich?

Maybe there will be export tariffs in the future to stop the U.K. losing so many of these lovely cars to our “friends” in the EU.

If the cars in Europe are more expensive but better than some of the stuff in the UK it would still be worth a trip.

Ref mine exported. Nah. Though I did have calls from Portugal and Germany when it was advertised. (Be nice if they were on a) A good phone line and b) Their English was better that it was for these 2. laugh )

Is the run down of the history. Guys name was Mark/Jamie? Cant remember! laugh He had a E46 before and got a 911 afterwards. He was a Plumber/Gas Engineer who lived in Chipping Norton. And when he came to view he turned up in a quite frankly terrible E30 4 door with a gaping amount of rust! Wish I could remember what website he used and what his user was. He posted loads of pics.

I did look at Gaydon albums after I sold it and it never surfaced that I saw. Nether the plate I had, or the one the next owner fitted.

Whilst sitting in traffic for the last week I've been thinking if I ever manage to win several million pounds from Euromillions / Lotto, I would get a late car and rebuild it to my ideal spec. Been thinking about every little detail laugh To quote Singer "Every thing is important" biggrin

Found a pic only. His username was Plumb. I know he had a minor off in it, hence the new front bumper (and oil cooler!) Sadly his photobucket account is private and the thread he had doesn't have any pics due to the 3rd party thing.

I was looking back at the first forum I joined back when I bought mine in all those years ago. Some of the threads are quite funny with people asking why there's no interest in their clean M3 at £5.5K, and another about someone asking a crazy £23K for a Sport Evo .....

Bit of a cheat wink

Wonder how much this was?

Love the trick front suspension biggrin

I imagine Grp A parts are very much NLA.

Surprised that no one in the world is making pattern ones though.

EDIT

Found a few places. Not cheap! laugh

Please don't post pics like that. I now have to try and explain to my Mrs, why I'm sat in my PJ's drooling over some bits of metal, whilst trying to work out who or what I can sell to raise the cash to pay for it all.

It does look good though doesn't it?

I have always wondered about that. I had mine done years ago. But even thought I saw the work before the bodyshop had the glass refitted (Autoglass needed 2 goes as they ballsed up the sealant the first time and it didn't reach the metal!!!) I could never work out why it happened? There's IIRC a couple of drain holes there. So why does water sit there and not drain away? Is there a way to stop it for good? Reprofiling the window aperture? Bigger/More drains?

(Pic from the X-Works rebuild - Where is that car now? )

I emailed Xworks about his car and asked about the dipping of the shell he had done at SPL. This was about a year ago and he still had the car and was just enjoying it. I guess he just kinda bored of posting, but I still see his name logged in from time to time on some E30 forums. Shame, his rebuild thread is almost a Bible on how to and a huge help to me rebuilding mine.

DTM stuff is nice, but pretty much for a dedicated track only car only.
I think that Soper car sold two years ago or more.

I guess NVH would be horrendous on a daily. But I suppose you could engineer in some rubber to quieten everything down

(Great vid if you haven't watched it before)

As per Singer say. You don't want only motorsport parts on a road car

Re: Soper car. I think so, just wondering price wise more than anything. That car specifically Id guesstimate at £250-400K? ex Works cars probably £2-350K ish??? Other non providence cars? £150K ish?
