Re the red Evo 2, can anyone work out what's happened to the mileage ? (see MOT history)
I've got a car whose mileage has gone up and down but this was due to the digital mileage reading and the trip metre reading being in the same place so a couple of garages have incorrectly recorded the trip reading as the mileage. That's not the reason for this car but what do you reckon ? Nice car but I'm put off by these discrepancies.....

Re mileage, looks like the car has had two clusters. One km, one miles and then was tested with no cluster.

Surely it’s much easier to unplug the diff speed sensor to keep the miles down!

Rear arch looks rippled in the photos.

Corrosion or poor arch rolling?

MOT’s in KM and Miles? Thought it had a MPH cluster fitted from new as per the advert....

Probably just the usual PH ste photo quality. Can you still see that problem on the 'original' photos here? http://www.silverstoneauctions.com/1988-bmw-e30-m3...

Given how atrocious PH photos are, it's a wonder anybody advertises with them. Particularly if you're selling a red car...

Is what ad states,

advert said:
1/40 UK-supplied cars
and given the UK MPH speedo's also show KPH is there any other legitimate reason to change a cluster to a KPH unit which show only KPH...........?

Guess they think that values have risen enough to justify it this time around.
It's a nice example from what you can tell from the pics and ad, but there's a few £50K cars I'd be checking out first.

Been in touch with Silverstone re the Evo2 who said;

"The car had been fitted with a temporary set of clocks while the original MPH clocks were repaired, this took a little longer than expected. All works are completely logged in the history file and the current owner has written a very detailed account of what and why the mileages appear as they do ‘on file’"

Makes sense, I will now be bidding......

What I find odd is the need of of the auctioneers to make statements such as "and its first owner kept it for 6 months before returning the car to BMW as a deposit against the first Sport Evolution III available in the UK. "

"Unusually the car has stayed within a small geographical area (a picture of it still hangs in the local BMW dealer-principals office) and the current owner has been in contact with all but one of the M3's six previous keepers, with each one remembering it fondly."

I mean, who really cares about this?
Me. Sad maybe i like to hear about this kind of thing. Paints a bigger picture of the cars life in my opinion.

the constant filling of the adverts with the model history of the cars.

Anyone looking to buy such a car will know that.
This on the other hand is very irritating.

Yeah, the Evo2 is the car discussed above on this page and the SE is the car previously advertised privately which we thought was Bernie Ecclestone’s car. Two similarly ‘guided’ cars, be interested to see what they what they sell for and what impact the mileage has on the SE. With the last SE selling at £135k, difficult to tell.....
