Any high average mileage Ms?
Discussion
My old E28 M5 was on 330,000 miles just before I sold it a few months ago.
Ran, stopped and handled just fine.
If you service & maintain an M car correctly, continually keep on top of the parts of the car that wear out with age (bushes, balljoints, catching minor oil weeps before they turn into major ones etc) they can be used until the doors fall off.
Provided it doesn't spin a shell or something else unlucky etc.
E46 M3's do not "usually" go pop at around 100k. To the chap who said this, find a new mechanic.
Owners that have engines that let go prematurely are either unlucky, or the car has been abused. I'm all for using them as intended, but a degree of mechanical sympathy goes a long way.

I've just bought a carbon black M5 (E39) with 118k miles on it - I'm not worried by that figure and expect it to last if looked after.
The chap who sold it to me suggested that to keep the MAF's in good order I should redline it occaisionally (obviously once warmed through). I've no problem with doing that in general (once oil warmed up etc) but is that true that it helps burn off any deposits and keeps it sweeter?

It says so in the E60 M5 manaual. Good enough excuse for me My 2003 E46 M3 is coming up to 145k miles. According to the service history, it had done 87k in its first 3 years, average of 29k miles a year! I bought it in April 2013 with 115k miles on it, so I'm averaging 21k miles per year.
Seems fine, doesn't use any oil between services. Apart from a TPS, a thermostat, new diff input oil seal, propshaft rubber joint and new belts and pulleys it has only had service consumables.

Twice this year, one at 58,000. The other at 86,000.
Not good, sounds like something is wrong to cause that.. Cooling system ok? I'd go back to whoever did the h'gasket..I'd think the cars with 300k would be on original h'gasket..

So you paid top dollar for a low mileage example, then promptly used it (presumably) every day for many miles.
Pray tell,.....why? Tour of europe?
maybePray tell,.....why? Tour of europe?
1. Because it's a car
2. The mileage was hardly low
Doesn't make much sense to me either...
Now has 101996 miles on it.
Why? Because I wanted to drive an M5.
My F10 M5 was relatively high mileage at 40000 miles for a 2012 (12) plate car. Was discussing some trade in deals at dealer I bought car from 2 years ago and was offered trade in price of 35K. Almost exactly 50% depreciation on purchase price, or should I say almost £1 depreciation for every mile driven On the bright side at least it wasn't an M6 trade in depreciation
Hi
My e39 m5 as 179,786 on the clock, last month went to nurburgring then onto belgium f1,will be going to the nurburgring 4th October once again,ok it's our weekend car now,but we still average 9k a year now.and it still goes off the clock on the autobahn.
Mileage is not a problem with the m cars.
Many Years ago had an e36 m3 saloon when sold it had 225,000 on her,no oil usage or coolant..
All I do change oil regular..wait till operation temperature until I give it the beans..
