Finally got a stablemate for the M5 - an E46 M3 !
Discussion
I finally decided to get an E46 M3 as I have owned several E36 M3 in all variants but never looked at an E46 until now.
I decided to get a convertible as I already have a tin top M5. So happy with the car, its fully loaded with Harmon Kardon, widescreen sat nav, heated seats and full documented history which includes an engine rebuild and new vanos a few years ago and the all important rear subframe mounts repaired by BMW themselves.
Its a late 2003 car and is in superb original condition.

I have had a car for a few weeks now and its been faultless. My son took it to work at BMW and checked it over on the ramp and its got a clean bill of health. The other techs there said it was one of the cleanest E46 M3's they had seen.
He also printed out the BMW warranty history which showed everything the car has ever had including full details of the subframe reinforcement. Its an interesting read. Very happy and would certainly recommend one but look at several first - this was the 5th I looked at !
