In the absence of any outstanding lease deals on M cars I have looked at a few second hand cars (BMW AUC) all less than six months old low mileage. However if you input the vehicles details into any online car valuation service the difference between the suggested value and the asking price is quite a difference. Anything between 10-16k which seems high to me
Is this the norm or just a product of buyers tending to buy new, I seem to remember an earlier post where a contributor suggested second hand BMW's are harder to shift at the moment.

I am currently being offered 30k from WBAC on a 12-plate 22k miles. Taking the piss, much.
Autotrader/parkers etc recommend 40-41k. Looking at autotrader and similar aged cars with slightly more miles, and with much higher spec (tinted glass, 20" wheels, rear camera, auto boot closing etc) they are commanding about 42k.
I've popped mine on for 39k. Only interest so far has been from traders. I suspect i might have to consider a slight drop on that to shift it.

The current offer of discount and 0% PCP on M5/M6 must be comparable to a good personal lease deal if you were in the market for either.

That's not surprising & all the uber barges suffer with cliff like depreciation in the same way, AMG's, M's, RS's & Jag R's. Any car that's sold way below list (brand new Audi RS6's are now selling with 15% off) are gonna get hit with big depreciation, but when viewed against the 'real' purchase price rather than new price the delta isn't all that big.
Be a bit careful with the bmw sale days at bca. I found that prices reach the same level as outside quite easily, or alternatively one can get an AUC car for not much more. In addition, the x5 e70 I bought at bca needed around 2k prep work for bmw, therefore they put it into auction rather than auc it. So what I saved at auction I spent outside. And had no warranty.

If the comparison is useful for you, ive just bought a 12 plate AUC car with 15k on it for £41k. I guess they would have paid £35/36k for it?? Autotrader/parkers etc recommend 40-41k. You're welcome - i just found that bmw will put their best cars on auc (or the ones that need the least prep) and will put cars they have in px which will cost them too much to prep (and put a warranty on) into auction.
The salesman i bought mine off said that they typically incur c£2-3k on prep for an M5 - a figure which i doubted until they changed the brake discs/pads on mine, plus putting a warranty on and other prep probably doesnt end up far off that figure.
If you have the patience you may find a better deal privately but thats a virtue i have lacked for a long time....

The original offer was circa 35/36k from WBAC before it dropped.
I think i may have to hang onto to it for a couple of more months and then look to trade it in, its just hit the three year mark so the depreciation curve is now becoming more appetising.
