Hi - I am about to place an order for a new sapphire black M5 but cannot decide whether to go for black alloys or not. I appreciate that this is an individual choice, but what is the general feeling about black alloy wheels?

I think they are overdone now. I'm pleased I went with silver on my M3.

I have sapphire with silver. It's the blue calipers I don't like.

Are you thinking about the 20" alloys? I think they look absolutely stunning in chrome and wouldn't want to do anything to hide them.

Hmm. Inconclusive then. My preference is for chrome so that's what I will go for. Thanks for the input.

I always think that black alloys make the tyres look dirty! Don't like them at all myself.

Black works on white and orange for me, chrome for the dark colours

They're not chrome! (how tacky would that be) They're diamond cut and lacquered on the front and lip then painted grey on the inserts.

In the end I went for a Monte Carlo blue with the competition pack wheels. Thanks for all your input.
