Put down an M2 deposit today
Discussion
Try calling Sycamore BMW in Peterborough- when I was last there a short while back the salesman implied
they'd had no interest/orders for the M2 as of yet.
Peterborough is largely a poor area full of gypsies which may explain this lack of interest-
locals would rather buy a vehicle which has storage space in the rear for carrying stolen red diesel
from local farms.

What a ridiculous, small-minded and factually incorrect accusation. They wouldn't buy a car with storage space. They'd steal it.locals would rather buy a vehicle which has storage space in the rear for carrying stolen red diesel
from local farms.

Been informed today that my order will not be fulfilled until at least 18 months as the large dealership has only been allocated 2 slots this year with 8 orders placed. I don't suppose anyone knows another dealership anywhere in the country that had yet to fulfill its quota?
Strange. I got an email today from the dealer. Am their n.1 M2 and will only get it in September, delayed compared to initial expectations of April subsequently revised to August. Wondering how long I have to amend/cancel my order still.
I have just been told i am getting mine in September too and the first at my dealer. They have said i can get my deposit back at any time though as they can sell the car 10 times over.
Evo have put a walkround video up for the M2:

They mention that it 'won't be another GT4' so you should be able to get hold of one. I am guessing they mean in 2017.

Yeah, like EVO have a clue. They are just trotting out the BMW corporate bks of it’s not a limited edition blah, blah etc.http://www.evo.co.uk/bmw/2-series/16801/bmw-m2-wat...

Tell that to the people trying to buy one.
A while ago I was in a local dealer to have a peruse as my 135i 5 year PCP thing is up at the end of May this year and I was passing so thought that I’d kill half an hour to sit in a few things and mull over what I might do.
Sales guy come over and starts the chat line……etc., and after a while of listening to my thoughts on options he said, what about the M2?
I’d like to see you try and get me a M2 for June delivery says I ……… bearing in mind I know how many you’ve been allocated for 2016 and when, so go on, how will you get me one if I say yes right this minute?
Cue much shuffling, staring at toes and changing the subject.
Good job I’m not interested in buying one then really isn’t it, says I.
Wouldn't be too concerned BMW and others like to whip up a bit of hype to start with and then when they see the orders coming in they will find a way to get some extra production into the system. Either by switching lhd to rhd or just changing model mix. Pretty sure some extra UK cars will be found towards end of 16 especially when directors are thinking how to meet their profit target for bonus calculation !
It will be interesting to see what the likes of Evo think
At the moment the M2 vs M3/M4 debate hinges on the production volumes. If the M2 gets a good write up and has limited volume then the people with deposits are quids in.
If it's not limited numbers then it'll depreciate like an M3&M4
And given their more special interior (seats) and higher power to weight ratio they seam a better proposition
So is the M2 special enough as a weekend car? Or is it a daily driver?
As a daily driver it looks expensive compared to the m135i/m235i that has the same interior (but with colour options other than black) and they are c£20k cheaper after discount and with immediate delivery
So does the M2 become unloved as the its M lite brothers are better value and it's bigger brothers are faster and more special?
