Hi, my M5 currently has PS2 fronts and PS3 rears. However the rear PS3s need replacing, the fronts are fine. The car only gets used for mundane road journeys - nothing extravagent in terms of performance driving.

Usually I would advocate all same tyres all round but a misunderstanding at a previous garage led to current mix match. I also find the PS3 'not a good looking tyre' (I know - silly point but they look like tractor wheels with the tread high on the sides)

I could just replace the rear with a new set of PS3s. I believe they may not be available in right sizes for the front anyway.

Alternatively, I could take the opportunity to replace all four with the same brand.

What are the current recommended tyres for this car?
My tyre place has suggested the following models:
- PS3 as stated
- Dunlop SP01
- Eagle F1

Thanks.

I got mine with goodyears which seemed fine, replaced them with ps3's a couple of months ago and certainly prefer the feel of them. Wet grip seems far better than the goodyears too.

Michelin Pilot Super Sport, much better than the PS3 and the real replacement for the PS2.

Initially they were not available in the 275/35 18 needed for the E39 M5, only the USA, but they are available now.

Excellent - thanks for that. I had not realise that Super sports were available in E39 M5 sizes.
A full set ordered for the weekend...they were actually slightly cheaper than PS3s...!

I couldn't get them when I ordered tyres in September, only the vortis which tbh haven't disappointed.
