Why not?

Of course they will hold better

Agreed....not sure why people keep banging on about "could have had an M4/3 for the same dough"

They're different cars. My woman has an M3 and my daughter an M2. M2 win hands down for me.
Wake up they aint selling, dealerships are chock full of them.
I was in our local BMW dealership today and got chatting to one of the sales characters. He basically confirmed that the M2 was a tough car to sell and they struggle to shift them.

I asked why and basically he said it's down to the comparative price of the M4 and M2 on PCP. According to him people prefer the M4 for not a lot more on the monthly payments.

Here's a novel idea....

Drive both and just buy the one you like rather than worrying about the comparison.

If you're constantly worried about increasing volume available or resale etc. you're clearly not committed to purchase....play it safe and sit on your hands.......kicker !!!

I don't get all the fuss about the M2, it doesn't look great. May drive nice but it's a bit of an ugly duckling as far as M cars go.

Each to their own. For me the M2 is the best looking M car BMW build at the moment. The M3 & M4 are too big and the M5 & M6 are big barges albeit very quick.

This need not be a problem for residuals providing BMW cut supply to match demand. Indeed, the fewer cars produced the better prospects are for longer term residuals. If they continue to supply, and use cut price finance deals/push through leasing channels, then residuals will collapse as per M6.

If this statement isn't a wind up, it explains a lot about the average M driver these days.

Personally the M2 is the only current BM I'd be interested in, and good on them for making a proper (in modern terms) drivers car.

Dunc.

Dunc, you're absolutely bang on there mate. Having owned every M3 apart from the F80, which as I said above is too big, the M2, which I do own, is as good as an E30 M3 in terms of handling but with a lot more power.

Serial M owner here and I think it's the best looking M car in a long time too. Don't have one btw, currently in F10 M5 which looks like a diesel.

The M2 looks lovely especially in LLB, but the interior is such a let down no M seats or merino leather is poor.

Corrected for you there wink

Agreed the seats are a bit of a let down as there should have been at least an option of the seats similar to the CP seats in the M3 & M4, however, with the electronically adjustable kidney bolster they do hug you rather well. I wasn't fussed on Merino leather as that would just have been another costly option or if not an option would have added aprox £2K to the list price.

The good thing with the M2 is that it was priced at a point below the M3 & M4 and, although I may be biased, is the better car of the other two. Yes it's not as quick as the other two in a straight line but it handles better than them. (I may have just opened up another can of worms with that comment biggrin)

Even though the seats are the basic ones they are still terrific tbh. I'm pretty slim built and the bolsters come in far enough to make sure even I don't fall over round corners.

The blue stitching and 'carbon' trim looks bang on imo. There might not be leather absolutely everywhere but it's not supposed to be a luxury car so that's hardly surprising really...

My wife has the M3 and my Daughter the M2.

I have never been a fan of her M3 especially after moving on from the awesome E90 M3

The M2 is exactly the car the original M3 should have evolved into. Love it and would own it over the M3 any day

It's not a wind up, I just don't like the look of the M2. I've always preferred the look of M power saloons, nothing wrong with that. The M4 does nothing for me either. I'm sure the M2 is great fun and great to drive being that bit smaller but I don't like the look of them.

I see that for the first time M2's are starting to appear at Auction (BCA) as I assume dealers struggle to cope with excess stock. Book value is 35k so will be interesting to see what it makes.

YEP I am afraid BMW M2's are fast loosing money like the rest of the "M and RS/AMG cars"
They will soon be heavily discounted to move them on.
However the new M2 CS may be a different animal and be more refined inside, we will have to see. I test drove the 2017 model and TBH liked it , you could use all it had unlike my 2107 M3 CP which is a monster when pushed hard.

You keep doing your best to talk prices down, but you do realise that nobody's listening to you? As I said before, give it a rest.

I don't like the shape of the M2 either, it may be great to drive but from a looks perspective it is not for me!

You very rarely have anything positive to say about the M2, Why does it bother you that M2 prices are where they are, you don't own one.
