Sub 30K M2s might happen once the demand for the competition version has been sated and discounting bings. As they don't arrive in dealerships till August that process will take a while yet. The original M2 is still a damn good car and the updates in the competition are very much evolutionary rather than revolutionary. But let's revisit this thread on 1 Jan 19!
Yes, on reflection sub-£30k on the AUC website by the end of this year might be overly pessimistic (or optimistic if you're a potential buyer!). However, I'd have thought in a normal market an M2 would be worth several thousand pounds less than an M4 of the same age and there are already some 2016 M4's at mid-30's on the AUC website. Equivalent cars will probably be early 30's come the end of the year which is why I was thinking the first of the M2's might possibly dip to around or just under the £30k mark by then; as you say, though, something to revisit on 1st January 2019!

All this talk of epic devaluation on the M2 is really depressing. Although I guess it means there's little point in me selling on and may as well run it into the ground?
Welcome to M5 ownership I'm just bitter because my F10 M5 plummets faster and harder than a bunker-busting bomb

Have been watching M2 values over the last few months, I think there are going to be £25k cars by the end of the year!
Can't see that in the BMW dealer network but for one of the first cars that's also basic spec and has done a highish mileage it might get down to that at an independent - £25k still seems low though!p1stonhead said:
Looks stunning.What are we thinking price-wise - £65k+ ?

Limited edition so I’d expect at least £75k personally.

Where did you get £90k from. It's not going to be the same price as the m3 cs wasEDIT - £90k apparently!

A bit later than Jan 2019; it's now Nov 2019. And this morning the cheapest AUC M2 was.... 29,999! It's an April 16 car, manual gearbox, heated electric seats, HK sound, visibility package, sun protection glass, reversing camera, comfort access and with 38K miles. It probably cost about £48K new? So about 37% depreciation over 38K miles and 3.5 years. Not too bad.Edited by AW10 on Thursday 19th April 12:01
The other 142 cars on the AUC site are all over £30K.
