I'm aware that the current M5 had some good deals on leasing through its life . Do people think the new one will be any different ?

What sort of deals were there on the current one ?

Just dusting off my crystal ballsmile

My gut feel is BMW will test the water for a good few months to gauge demand & then decide what subsidies to offer. The current M5 wasn't supported from launch as the cracking lease/CH deals coincided with the LCi so that must have been at least 2yrs after the car was launched.

My other gut feel is the F10 M5 deals won't be seen with the new M5 for a couple of reasons, firstly economic uncertainty including Brexit & the cockwomble in the Whitehouse, also car finance is coming under scrutiny as the new Mortgage scandal as in it's too easy to get the credit, rates are low & lower earners are being offered high levels of funding (not a great mix).

Lastly, i think the new M5 if the initial reviews are correct will fly off the shelf & thus BMW will have no need to support the model. They may later in its life, as Audi did with the RS6, but i reckon that will be 3yrs away from the launch date.

Edited to say i believe the best deals on the F10 M5 were 6 (could have been 9) + 35 based on 8k miles, a bog standard car at £499 per month (can't recall if that was plus or including VAT). I got 3 + 35, based on 13k miles (my car had about £4k of optional extras) for about £550 plus VAT.

I honestly doubt they'll fly off the shelf. There is an expectation for huge discounts amongst new buyers on these cars due to the severe depreciation the M5 has always suffered. I'll give it 6-9 months before the big deals role in. The mark-up on this product is big enough to enable this and the completion is stiffer then ever, be it from similar cars with other brands or fast suv's. Only my opinion of course but no matter how much money I had I would never be an very early adopter in this market without a big discount unless enjoying being bent over..........

Likewise i can only assume, but given the number of people who've been desperate for the M5 to go AWD & also given it opens up the M brand to many more potential buyers, the caveat of Audi's RS being the 'only' AWD performance saloon/estate, makes me think the car will be very well received.

Personally i do hope BMW follow the same route with the new one that they did with the F10 as that made the F10 a very cheap performance car for those that gained advantage from the crazy lease deals in 2013/14. Gut feel says they won't, but i've got my fingers crossed.

I am one of those people but agree with the above the deals will be slow in coming so have stuck with another Audi Quattro until I see what happens in the next 18-24months. If the deals come I will have one that's for sure

My F10 M5 with a list after extras of 81k was £850 per month with a big discount a friends well specced (90k) RS6 is costing £1200 a month on a 3+35 profile, I think a lease based upon a standard car on a 3+35 profile and 10k per year will be £1000 a month inc VAT minimum.

The new M5 isn't going to be cheap 85k basic is my estimate.

That would be a sore one, I am hoping for around £75k and good base options keeping the car below £80k with decent options added.

Even at 75-80k it will be a grand a month, I doubt they will be knocking 14-15k off them and offering 0% like they have with the F10, you've got to finance the depreciation and pay the interest on the whole amount so I think it'll be a dear do.

I've got a 2 year old F10 M5 and am frustrated, probably like most people, with the terrible traction is anything but super dry conditions. Overall, I love the car but this is my biggest pet peeve

Whilst an AWD version will be great the thing which will drive discounts will be the how the residuals stack up over the long term. Not many buyers can stare down an massive depreciation hit. I got c£15k off the car plus 0% which obviously made it more palatable. Zero discount and I'd of looked elsewhere for something similar but with a less severe depreciation curve

If BMW are offering no discount and Audi or Merc are for their similar offerings then at a minimum I'm going to test drive them

Put some PS4S on your M5 it has transformed the grip/traction on my F80 M3 (not the same grunt I know), I had the MPSS on the M5 and as you say the traction was an issue unless you were in 4th doing silly speeds.

The PS4S is the only tyre I've ever had that I thought wow this thing grips that includes CUP+/PS2/MPSS/CSC5P, worth a try.

Can't imagine how bad that is, I was chasing a Macan Gts the other day on a B road in the wet, we ended up at a T junction, both turning right and that's where it ended, he was gone! I cannot imagine what an M5 would be like in the rain!!!

So long as you don't race other cars on public roads you'd be fine.

Funny that most on M3Cutters have found them crap compared to MPSS the previous tyre choices.
On my 2017 M3 CP I have the MPSS and very pleased with them, had the same tyres on my M5 and M6 GC CP and no problems with them there .

MPSS is still a choice and the recommended BMW * rated tyre, I just wanted to try the MPS4 and the grip is better than the other tyres I've had.

Another great contribution by the way.

I'm finding MPS4S to be considerably better than MPSS in the wet. Don't think there's much of a difference in dry grip though.

Could be the miles you have covered on them, I know you really pile them on;)
How are those wheels holding up?.

The winters were superb - very grippy and confidence inspiring in the wet and cold - although when I switched back to summer 4 months later, I had 2mm left on the rears and 8mm left on the fronts!!

Once I've worn the fronts I'm going to switch the wheelsets around and use them as summers, as I prefer the look and also the ride (I tend to put the dampers in Sport mode for general driving on 19's, but this wasn't necessary on 20's).

Those wheels were very much unique , best regards J
