I bought a 2008 reg one in 2009 from main dealer with 100 miles on for £26950!
If I still had it then I reckon it would be on no more than 40k miles now. Virtually free motoring. I'm a idiot for selling it.
I did similar, but kept mine and put 140,000 on it.If I still had it then I reckon it would be on no more than 40k miles now. Virtually free motoring. I'm a idiot for selling it.
Probably worth 50% of what I paid for it, but it's going up...slowly...all the time.
I'm 'gaining' on depreciation what I am 'losing' on running it
Five are you sure you could really sell yours? At this point in time after everything you've been through it would be a betrayal. I keep hoping the values will continue climbing, I have many dreams but one involves something Italian and noisy. I'm hoping another few years and my coupe will help me get there

I can't see me selling it for a number of reasons.Mainly that I don't think anyone would buy the highest mileage Z4MC in the country, or would offer such a low price that I'd simply get annoyed and tell them to do one.
Plus there's nothing out there that I could buy for a similar price, with similar performance.
Will probably slowly upgrade/rebuild everything, but it's already had a recent diff, clutch, flywheel, radiator, oil cooler, water pump, thermostat, rear trailing arms, Bilstein B16 suspension, etc. Just the big stuff to do now, like BBK and supercharger...but they're a way off at the moment.
Mines a roadster, 69k miles black with red leather (a bit loud for me, but beggars can't be choosers). Paintwork was immaculate, though a couple of speed bumps have seen to that at the skirt at the front.
I paid £14k + my ratty MX5 (possibly worth £1k) at the time which is an unusual move for me as it was one of the more expensive ones on the market.
Bloody love the thing - I hope that I can drive it for a couple of years and if needs must (probably a house buy) recoup my money, or at least not lose much.
Coupe would have been a better choice, but my god have I won with the weather since I won it!
I seem to have gone from being the bearded bloke driving ratty cars and rusty cafe racers to seeming like an ironic hipster (with a tan that means I now cannot shave) in a convertible with too many exhausts and red leather (commonly known as a wker...)

Ive been following them regularly and they have softened for sure.
A lot of the low mile >£20k examples that were getting hoovered up 12 months ago are languishing on the usual web platforms for months.
The same goes for Z3M models; particularly the coupes with £50k asking prices.
It's not just these cars either - the whole bubble is deflating as I can see.

I've been watching all year and am glad I didn't jump in at the peak. A lot of tat was pushed onto the market as prices jumped. Dealers in on the act too. Very few genuinely good low mileage cars come up and people have been hoping for near 30k but I don't think they are selling at that.
A very recent reference for you as to where the market potentially is for top end examples.
I have just sold my Z4MC (14k miles ruby black) to a trader for a straight purchase at £28.5k , however on close inspection it transpired that the running in service stamp in the book was erroneous and the car never actually had it's running in service. some scrote in the past had just filled this in but there is no record within BMW UK or supplying dealer network as evidence to say it had that service. (note to self to run better checks if i buy one again!).
As a result of this the trader offered me £27.5k which I accepted.
The car is now for sale for £36k. A significant mark up but maybe not so much if you consider applicable tax on that potential profit and the fact that people need to make a living!
It is however being advertised as having a full service history which is obviously incorrect.
I paid £19k for the car just over 4 years ago.

Realistically yours is the actual top of the market then for an ultra low mileage car. I'd imagine it will eventually sell for £33k he's obviously hoping to snag someone who isn't seeing a slow down in prices. Dealers were asking £30k last year and this for higher mileage examples, I viewed one that was at £28k and worth about £20k at most.
I've got cash burning a hole but I've sat on my hands for once and not bought, as I haven't seen anything worth buying with them being so scarce for good ones.

Why do some buyers keep looking out for “appreciating classics” then never drive the car in the pure hope they will make some money?
Buy a great car like this as you always wanted it - enjoy it for all that it is. Buying to try to flip IMHO is the utter opposite to a petrol head, the sooner speculators Foxtrot Oscar (possibly by taking a bath on prices) the better for the real car enthusiasts.

Agree but its their money isn't it and if they can make money they will.Buy a great car like this as you always wanted it - enjoy it for all that it is. I've missed out on cars on my bucket list for waiting about only to find them increase in price though it is annoying. R33 GTR for example, would I fk pay £20k for one now though. Suppose it keeps people who just want to run it for a bit and rag a car from doing so. Maybe take more care of what is a major purchase to many people.
I'd not pay £20k for a Z4M either let alone £28k, or £36k! Ive considered them over the years but never wanted one badly enough to buy one. Mental, I honestly cant see any petrol head paying £36k for a Z4M and then driving it without having some serious money where £36k is no big deal.

If you can genuinely afford to blow away 36K , you are probably going to buy something nicer and more exotic than a Z4M -for that kind of money you can get into Lotus Evora or Nissan GTR territory
You cannot buy a Z4M new now and none will be with a screaming I6 N/A. 343bhp is plenty fast enough in a road car sure a M4 Coupe has a bunch load more but it simply doesn’t compare also no V8 Z4m
