Hi

unfortunately i forgot to ask the BMW people over there but... that mat black m4 that was on display at Goodwood this year, can anyone tell me if that s a new individual colour that can actually be ordered? or that was a one-off?

thanks

Sat in it yesterday but can't shed any light on whether it's a colour you can order unfortunately. BMW man next to it said the colour would be a nightmare to fix stone chips in the future...

Was it part of an official BMW presentation? If so it would most likely have been "frozen black". You can spec any BMW colour on any BMW car, but be prepared to have your pants pulled down if it isn't one of the colours that's part of the standard or individual set for that model.

hi and thank you both

yeah probably frozen black.

So it s not a base choice colour, nor an individual M colour, so that frozen black will be very expensive, on say, an LCI m2, right? how much, you reckon?

thx

For the M4 there are a range of standard colours - no cost - and a range of "individual" colours - £950 extra. If you want a colour outside the scope of that range it'll have to be specced as an "individual" extra, even if it's a colour that's standard on another BMW model, and will likely cost you more than the £950 extra that you pay for "in range" individual colours. How much extra I don't know. Now, "fozen silver" is a £2,000 option on the 440i Gran Coupé M Sport, so I'm guessing a "frozen" colour on the M4 would be at least an extra £2k, maybe more as it's going to be the extra cost of the "frozen" paint finish and then some more on top as it's not part of the standard range of colours. You're probably looking at an extra £3k, but you'd need to ask a BMW dealer to confirm the exact amount.

I believe there will be a new range of Frozen colour options coming to M3/M4 soon. Including Frozen Black, Frozen Red and Frozen Brilliant White. Seen the product literature somewhere, will try and dig it out.

Shame these aren't on the configurator if they are now part of the standard colour range. The frozen colours are on the configurator for the 4 Series Gran Coupé M Sport.

It's not even available for the M2, same 4 colours on the LCI as at launch, no individual option. You could always buy a black one and get a matt wrap done - paint protection and the colour you want, win win!

Any pics of car?

They did do a run out frozen black E92 which I though looked superb. Not sure the official name of edition.

I'd expect 2-3k to have car painted in it as an option.. which I don't think is all that bad
