Hi Guys,

Sorry I been busy with Birthday, Family, car etc.

I wanted to report that the car is absolutely immaculate. The interior is like new. The exterior with the machine polish is gleaming. All minor chips scratches have been taken care of. It looks like brand new to be honest. Very pleased.

The car drives absolutely amazing!! What a car! It has two personalities. A refined family saloon and in an instant a supercar killer. Awesome. I can't take the smile off my face.

Pics are coming soon after the car goes in for full detail.

I was considering ppf protection on bonnet, bumper, wings, wing mirrors and front side of roof. Maybe xpel or the 3m scotch (I think it's called that) what do you guys think? Is it worth it? How does it look long term? Got one quote for £1500 ex VAT

Is it better off getting ceramic coating?

Found myself drawn to this thread a few times over the past week. Best of luck OP and wish you health to enjoy your new purchase.

Pics please.
Pics will come soon my friend. I just want to get the car detailed and protected and wait for a gorgeous day albeit that is very hard in 'sunny' Manchester!!

Dash cam I use in the M is a Transcend Drive Pro 100; only 50£ but great footage , easy to use and 2 year warranty.
Car's not a daily , so not so bothered about discrete. It's not that small.

Blackvue do a more complex camera , front and rear and apart from their later ones, they are much more discrete.

Mate of mine installs a lot of "target blues" on a lot of fast/super cars.
They pick up on Tetra so will do cop cars etc. but not camera vans.
Not sure what solutions he has for those, but for the camera detectors my father tried several . I tested them to and only Cheetah Brand was picking up nearly all camera locations I knew.
Other brands were useless !
I hear the Cheetah is only compatible with windows. I only have Apple laptop, desktop etc. Dont really fancy using the office pc for this...

Also I can not find the info anywhere.. has the cheetah c500 got a battery so it can be used without cable and mounted. I assume it should..

How big are they? I want it to be discreet.

Ps M5 is an absolute beast!! I thought the e46 M3 was quick!! Private plates on order and once log book is in it will be transfered. Cant wait to have it all sorted and polished and waxed to perfection!

I am with you on this one. In some ways I would like to be proved wrong and will then have to eat a lot of humble pie! If Manchesterman is a fantasist then he has lasted longer than most. Time will tell.
I feel compelled to call you out now. The only negative person here is you. Why? You got nothing better to do than follow random threads and be negative? I find your comment/analysis hilarious. I will break it down for you pal.

What is your point or what are you trying to achieve?

Why waste your time to post on a thread where clearly you have nothing meaningful to add?

Hmmmm.....

Obviously there are some issues... would you like to tackle them head on or keep making assumptions and posting random comments?

What's with the little digs?

I am not interested in you eating humble pie... nor am I interested in proving you wrong.... Simple truth is either add something interesting to the thread or 'jog on!' Like the meercat says in the ad 'simples'

Sick of reading comments like above in threads where people criticise others for no rhyme or reason. Educate not hate!!

You don't believe me? Who cares?

I applaud you for getting on my nerves but I wanted to give you a piece of my mind.

I would like to end it on, let's not criticise or make random comments but engage in positive dialogue.

Lets see what happens? Can you rise above it and be a man or will you put in another random post trying to be a smart ar*se!!

Just enjoy your car, some are jealous of your acquisition it would seem.
Sorry Mate, I just had to say something. I don't understand the mentality.

I certainly am enjoying the car.

Log book arrived on Friday. Private plate will get registered online tonight/ tomorrow.

I need to take it in to detailer for a quote to get the full car detailed and prepped for PPF protection. I think it is the best course of action to take against 'jealous types' that might be inclined to scratch the car and also against stone chips.

Trying to get hold of decent coder to have the car coded for the little extras. There is too much conflicting information online and all a bit confusing especially for someone who is not too clued up.

Seems like the car has taken up all my spare time after family commitments etc. I am certainly not complaining!!

I will add pics once completed. I want the car to look her best on a nice summer afternoon in the pictures.

I wouldn't mind in going to meets and seeing other M5 owners and their cars.

OP on a car that's only done 8k miles and was as you stated fully waxed and polished as a condition of sale.

Why would you then as soon as you get it essentially do the exact same thing? Likewise as someone else has posted a full reprint of the front is at or less than this special cover your going to have on it. Doesn't seem the best use of time and £ IMHO.
I totally get where you are coming from mate.

However, I am not 100% happy with the polish and wax from the dealership. TBH I did not expect a perfect job from them. I just wanted the wax on there to give the paintwork protection untill I researched a proper detailer in or arround Manchester. The dealership agreed to a machine polish so I thought why not.

The reason why I want a proper detail is that The sun was out the otherday (rare for Manchester) and there were some swirl marks showing up.

The awesome car look was diminished imo.

To say that I am a bit ocd when it comes to this type of stuff is an understatement.

I seen the work of a local detailer and his results are flawless and especially on black cars. I love my car to have that spotless deep colour that he achieved with other cars.

The ppf Is being considered as I was about to purchase an M5 from a place that does the ppf and the car looked immaculate. From further research it seems that it will protect from future stone chips etc.

I am not keen on repainting the bonnet or touching up everytime they appear. On a black car they are more prominent. I was thinking that maybe the 'prevention is better than cure.' way of thinking is the way to go this time.

Also I am considering the whole car to be ppf protected as I have had cars scratched in the past. This ppf is self healing and gives great protection from what I seen.

In theory, if I do a full detail with a couple of coats of proper wax, the ppf over it then the detail will essentially last untill the ppf comes off. (Correct me if I am wrong.)

(I think that after writing about it my mind is made up. Definately the full detail and ppf route for me.) I spend now what I will have to spend over the next two years and I break even in any event.

The only reason I am considering this is if I do get little marks on the bodywork I constantly notice them and they niggle away at me.

Further to this the M5 produces a heck of a lot of brake dust. I was thinking of getting protection on the alloys too. Makes cleaning and keeping them looking immaculate easier.

I am still researching and am hopefully due to see a few detailers next week and then make my mind up. Spending approximately a grand is minor considering I shelled out the best part of £35k.

I just thought I would share my thinking behind it.
