Just bought a E46 318ti Compact - lets go crazy!

Just bought this badboy - a 318ti ( 143 bhp) in Norway for the price of a night out.

Lets hoy a M54B30 in there! ( 330i engine)

Question - do I have to swap the gearbox too, or will the gearbox be able to cope with the 200 odd poundfeet of torque?

Yes, you need the 330 gearbox, and prop and diff and driveshafts and brakes........

well its no collectors example, but will give its life for the compact a 3.3 in the little ugly mutt is just what the doctor ordered!

Wow, that is a great project OP!

I have a 325ti and if it ever goes horribly wrong I would love to create a 330ti, but an Alpina would be something else!

found out I could get a E46 m3 for the same price. as lovely as the 3.3 280 bhp alpina engine is, it cant hold a candle to the s54. Its one of the worlds great engines.
