Hi

This is an odd one, our 2015 335d touring is just not very fast. I was lent a 2017 335d saloon for a week which was much faster, as well as a 2017 640d gran coupe and previously owned a 2012 640d coupe both of which were much quicker. My wife thinks the same so it's not just me!

I'd say it feels no faster than our 120d.

There are no warning lights and fuel consumption seems to be a touch worse than normal. Hard to say if it's getting worse.

It's booked in to the garage next week but has anyone experienced similar or have any ideas regarding the cause?

The F31 335d should feel slightly slower than the F30 due to the extra 100kg odd, but if it feels anything like a 120d, there is clearly something wrong. Perhaps you could time a 0-100 run if you have somewhere suitable to do that. It should be around 12 seconds, from memory, if it is behaving normally.

Thanks 335d - completely agree it's a bit heavier than a saloon and meant to be 0.2 seconds slower to 60 which isn't a noticeable difference, and 100kgs is a passenger plus dog which doesn't affect performance.

There's definitely something wrong with it. It makes a whining noise (not a squeak or slipping sounds) immediately on start up which stops after a few seconds. Really bizarre.

Could be an issue with the solenoids or the air lines that run between them, I had to have the latter replaced on my 535d, they control how the turbos operate.

Does it get going past 3k rpm ?

Thanks for this - do you know if that shows up on diagnostics or does the mechanic need to work it out for themselves?!?

No, not particularly - if anything it's stronger lower down the range and gets weaker later on. Maybe that points to a problem with the larger turbo???

I'd ne looking at vacuum hoses and actuators. I used to end up changing mine every 20k. Especially the hoses that ran over the top of the upper turbo.

I took it to Knockhill (race track) yesterday, gave it an absolute hammering for a couple of hours, and power seems to have returned as well as revving smoothly all the way to the limiter. I think it maybe needed a good old Italian tune up.

Has anyone else found a hard run restores power? It normally has a fairly gentle life so could explain it - my commute to work is 10 miles of 60 limit so it's rarely worked hard.

By the way brakes are dire for track use........serious fade and soft pedal....not what you want at the end of the main straight!!
