I agree with most of this to be fair. They were ridiculously priced when they came out and discounts didn't help with residuals. I think now in the used market though as they've lost a significant part of their value and with there only being 5-600 of them in the UK, they seem a good alternative to an M5. That was my thinking anyway. They are big, well a bit bigger than a 5 series, but big! The engine does feel like it has too much power.They have comedy retail price figures

The positives for me, i think they are one of the best looking cars BMW has produced in a long while, you don't see many of them about. They are very well spec'd and have one of the best interiors of a car i've seen in a while in this sector.
My issue was, i only need one car, but i wanted something that gave me the opportunity to press on if i want to, also something fun, but also something i can put the family in and drive round Europe. The alternatives are few (RS6, RS4, Panamera, AMG E class) and i don't think any of them give you the value that you get from the M6 GC, despite them all being very capable and great cars.
They still represent significantly less good value in the used market than the M5 does though. When I came back into M car ownership a few months ago I had a good look at them as they are a nice looking car with a good interior as well.
But having been in the F10 M5 i was really impressed with the interior and the external looks of the M6 just aren't that good that you would for instance want to get a 2 yr old car with mileage for the same price as an M5 a few months old with 3-5k miles.
At the end of the day it's what's under the bonnet that really counts for me and to that end it was a no-brainer to go with an M5.
But having been in the F10 M5 i was really impressed with the interior and the external looks of the M6 just aren't that good that you would for instance want to get a 2 yr old car with mileage for the same price as an M5 a few months old with 3-5k miles.

Done 23K miles now.
Absolutely loved every minute/mile of it so far.
Its just such nice place to be sat in whilst cruising around. Interior is just crazy with leather and alcantara everywhere. Carbon Fibre RP roof is super cool. Its long and low and a great projectile for blasting across Europe in. Plus it works well for me in Central London too.
The only reason I have not put my name down for the new F90 M5 is that I just reckon its not going to be as 'special' as the current M6 GC. Yes 4WD and all the new tech in the new M5 will be fun, but I just can't swap into one after having the M6 GC. Also please understand I am a die hard M5 chap (got an E34 M5 and E39 M5 currently too and was going to get an F10 M5 up until I saw the M6 GC online (RichardM5's one actually ).
Can't wait for the replacement for the M6 GC....or whatever they will be calling it by then. M8 GC ?

Here’s mine when I was down at a driving experience day (many various cars) at Mondello Park. BMW M at the time by chance had loads of sponsor banners up. Seemed the perfect place to park her up for a photo!

Looks great. I have made the same swap to Michelin Pilot Super Sports from Pirelli P-Zeros and the difference is quite incredible. I won't be going back. Their values have slowed to an extent compared to an M5. The peachy point for these was circa 18 to 24 months old in terms of the initial horrific depreciation.
Mine was 98k list when some poor someone bought it new, I have original receipt but got it for 49k with 18k miles on it. Now had it year and a half could sell it for circa 44 to 46k, depreciation is at a level now I don’t mind is my point.
They are rarer for sure to see than an M5 but not so rare you can’t get one at a decent price (compared to new).
I personally was happy to pay the extra for the nicer interior and different look over the M5. But for the values the M5 are had now it’s hard to justify extra 10 to 15k for an M6 GC unless like me you really wanted one.
