Hi all,
Are Bmw not going to make a 4wd version of the M6? Plus the added power of the latest F90 M5?
Isn’t the 6 dead now, they only make the 6GT which replaces the 5GT and the 8 series now takes up the place of the 6.

Which is odd, because you would think, 6 series - e class rival, 8 series - s class rival.
Oh really, showing my ignorance I didn't know they had stopped making them.

Coupe finished in February 2017, convertible in February 2018, and the Gran Coupé in October 2018 AFAIK

As said, the 8 is the new 6. They did that before, E24 -> E31, it was not a great success.

My Coupe is registered November 2017 and built July 2017. Think it is about last off the line

Dont know if this counts as hijacking a thread (sorry if so) but I've recently acquired an M6GC and wanted to say hello to some fellow owners. Was supposed to replace my e46 M3 but have decided to keep that as well (it is a manual, 2 owner with 91k on it that I've owned for 10 years). Whoops.

ETA this is them together...

Thanks - to be honest, it is so different from my e46 it is taking some getting used to. The more I drive it the more I like it though, so that's a good sign. The interior and kit are obviously generations ahead of my e46, and it is a much nicer place to be. I really enjoy the almost immediate shove and the way it changes character when everything is turned up to 11 - nice to have the flexibility.

I think the major thing that is taking getting used to really is the size (more accurately, the length) of it. Even with all the cameras and sensors I am, more often than not, making a pig's ear of parking it. Also the turning circle is (or seems!) massive compared to my M3 (which was exceptionally good).

I found a random remote fob in the arm rest, which it turns out is for an 'exhaustmeister' - which is fun but not sure I would use it (I'm lying, I have already used it).

All in all, I am really enjoying it. I think I need time to get used to how to drive it and at the moment am not so trusting of it in bends as I was with the M3. I'm sure that'll get better over time as I figure it out more!

PS can anyone help me work out what headlights I have? I dont know if I have the standard auto-high beam, or the (icon?) lights that selectively dip/move to avoid dazzling etc...

Face lift cars have Selective Beam, pre face lift don't. Looks like yours is pre face lift as it has the row of LEDs at the bottom of the main unit.

Ah ok - yes mine is an early 2014 (only 15k miles though mind you) so won't have it. That's OK- I'll get it on the next one! Thanks

You should have high beam assistant selected by pressing the lower switch on the end of the Indicator stalk (the top one does the computer)

This works very well and is much quicker and more sensitive than the version on my previous E63 smile

Mines a 2014 too with LED headlights not sure if these were an option?

Welcome to the fold - nice pair of cars.

You would soon notice if you had the icon lights if you hadn’t experienced them before. I think they’re great although my wife has the Audi Matrix version on her TT and I think they’re even better than the BMW version as they seem to react better to other traffic.

Enjoy learning about the new car. A good European road trip is really what it needs!

Thanks - have to admit I haven't driven the M3 since I got the M6. Need to get it on charge if I’m not going to be using it much (and maybe an outdoor cover as it is living outside until I empty the garage!).

Shame about the lights but am happy with the standard ones.

Definitely agree it needs a proper road trip, it is a bit wasted pottering around locally. That said, it is a nice way to potter. I’ve noticed (and maybe it is just the weather) that it doesn’t feel THAT quick from stationary but really gets interesting as it gets moving. I imagine the DSC is working a fair bit off the line.

I got caught out the other day and arrived at a sweeping bend going far faster than I expected, but was amazed at how the car just got on with it. Almost like the speedo was lying and we actually were only doing half the speed.

Evening guys. So, I've had her a month and a half. late 16, delimited, Comp pack, Moonstone in colour. Epic car, I had a little M140i previously which was fun, you could throw her about without the fear of impending death, not quite the same with the M6 smile I'm taking this one to the Nurburgring twice this summer, then we'll see what she can do. Did a performance car course at Millbrook Proving ground at the weekend, that was amazing- 150mph around the bowl and I was close to having to refit the leather seats, it was being up at such an angle that felt totally wierd, being drilled to constantly look to the far corner rather than what's in front of you.

The rear spoiler..... I can't get my head around whether to get one or not, I do agree with the idea that her arsse doesn't look quite right but at the same time, I don't want to mod her up. I like what you did with the photoshopping @Richard M5, what's your thoughts since putting it on. I'd only go for the M ones.

Cheers all

Will

In my view it improves the rear end quite a bit, especially in conjunction with the M-Performance diffuser.

Any M6GC-ers on the A329(M) Reading -> Wokingham this morning?

I was in my E46 M3 Conv, admiring your wheels as you passed.

Absolutely fine. I have it in my M6GC. I have never been listening to it thinking it wasn’t up to the job...

Thanks.
Anyone buying an M6GC now will be doing so second-hand, and therefore won't get to choose which stereo they get, so good to know it is still decent.

I guess in a lot of cars, Harman/Kardon would be the upgrade option in any case.
