In the spirit of the thread title,

I too, have Just bought an M6 Gran Coupe!!!

So excited. bounce

Thanks to everyone on this thread that has answered my daft questions, in particular RichardM5 who gave some amazing guidance offline.

Weirdly, after my question above (about finding the right car for you), it was the Unicorn spec I was looking for and, although the timing wasn't great, I didn't want to lose this car so I didn't and just bought it.

San Marino Blue, Silverstone Leather, Competition pack but with the 433 wheels!!
Awesome stuff!

Pics!

First impressions:
What an absolutely epic machine! Easily the best car I’ve owned, and seems to take the best bits from each of the cars in my history and rolled them into one. smile

As I’d hoped, it has the duality of managing to play the big, effortless, comfy cruiser but also the fairly sharp supercar.

My previous car was a Lamborghini Gallardo, and whilst I was glad to have owned it (I owed it to my 7 year old self), it was very singular in its abilities, (not a criticism of the Gallardo – this is true of all supercars, and part of what makes a supercar a supercar), and supercar ownership isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

The looks of the M6GC are just stunning, and photos never seem to do it justice as it’s quite a subtle shape, but in the metal there’s lines and curves in just the right places to look really purposeful and elegant, without looking too OTT or shouty.

The colour is absolutely beautiful – I’d been dreaming of a car this colour long before San Marino blue was even a thing; There have been shades close to it in the past - Range Rover Sport SVR came in a similar colour, and BMW Le Mans blue was again similar, but never what I’d pictured in my mind – this is it! So I knew I had to get one in this colour.

In terms of the drive, although I did some big mileage during collection, the temps were around 0-3 degrees, so I’ve not really explored much of its performance yet, but it’s easy to sense what it’s got in reserve.

Enjoy, looks stunning in that blue. Best thing to help with reserve and deployment of power in these is to ensure you have Michelin Pilot Sport Super Sports, or Pilot Sport 4 S on the rear especially. (Which it looks like you do). When I swapped to Michelins I couldn’t believe the difference they made especially during colder months. I have often looked at what to change my M6GC too and for the money for anything else newish right now I just cannot justify it.

Thanks, yes, I remember it being mentioned earlier in this thread how sensitive these cars are to tyre choice.

When I was collecting the car (from the premium car storage place) there was all sorts of exotica - GT2 RS, GT3 RS, Veyron, 458, 675LT and I genuinely wouldn’t have wanted any of these cars over the M6GC.

Congratulations it looks really good in that blue. I think you're lucky to have had a long drive to bring it home, the bonding has clearly already happened smile

Yes, that looks right.
It was on the car when I bought it but I was going to add one anyway - it looks great in the flesh.

Definitely. yes

I pretty much knew I would love the car before I bought it, and the drive home just cemented the relationship hehe

How’s the love for the M6 going now that your couple of weeks into it.

Still absolutely loving it. cloud9

I'm trying not to come across as a total fan-boy, but they are amazing machines, and it is everything I hoped it would be before I bought it.

With the temps not having been much above freezing since I got it, I've not really had a chance to fully explore the performance side of things, so I'm very much looking forward to that as the weather improves.

In the meantime, I'm just loving the feel-good factor the car gives (sounds cheesy as hell, I know paperbag ) and the way it just seems to shrug everything off, whilst also being an immersive experience.
It turns heads, but not in a shouty way which is nice.
And I was really glad to have Richard's advice to go for the surround view - means the size of it really isn't an issue (I've owned some big vehicles in the past so that probably helps too).

How are the rest of you guys getting on with yours?
shout Juber

My M6GC Comp is getting warmed in the garage once a week since early January when it snowed slightly and it struggled to use the back to enter the garage. All I have done is to get the insured warranty by phone which was cheaper than online (I got the same rate as someone without a break in BMW original warranty). The frozen black colour is doing my head in since it has to be hand washed. I wash my other cars with automatic wash. I know I am lazy before somebody says so. Hopefully from the next month, we would be able to enjoy our V8 monsters.

For me, driving it in manual with rev above 4500 rpm to near redline seems to bring the best experience regarding sounds and acceleration. Is that so for others?

Contrary to the above, I did about 75 miles of sunny driving in my M6. I really enjoyed. The best mode I found was Steering comfort and everything else Sport+ in manual with rev above 3500. The car drove small and I explored all the usual motorway and twisties. Steering in comfort mode made the car felt small and tossable. The lack of body roll was amazing. There was another red Pre LCI M6 behind me, that I would gap but slowed down for him/her to catch. Maybe I should have put M6 competition emblem.😏 Anyway, some websites say non Comps are faster in real life than Comps😩

Later I gave way to admire the back of the M6. It was moving so fast like a missile. I actually enjoyed seeing this.

hehe That's a new one!

I've heard some reviews saying the performance increase of the Comps not being that noticeable (unless you drive them back to back), but I've never heard of them being slower.

Have you got any links? - I'd be interested to read more..

Well. This is a direct comparison between MGGC Comp vs non Comp on Zeperf. At rolling race speed, non Comp might have a slight advantage: https://zeperfs.com/en/duel6134-4585.htm please use the attached and looks at 0-120 and 40-120 etc. Of course the comp would be sharper and more agile in corners

There will be more differences between the test conditions/driver input than there is between the cars in straight line performance. It's very difficult to get a perfect launch with road tyres in these cars, the power and DCT transmission give poor control when doing a standing start. The fact that there is a 19m difference in stopping from 200kph shows significant test differences, there is no difference between the cars that would explain over 10% difference in stopping distance, and if they were running different tyres (Michelin vs Pirelli for example) then it's a pointless comparison.

In reality the difference in output of similar engines (comp or standard) is likely to be as much as the difference between comp and standard engines anyway. A good standard car could well output more power than a poor comp version, early M6's that were put on a dyno were kicking out north of 650bhp.

My M6GCCP (600) is the first car I’ve had that I’m careful how much right foot I apply. I say this after many miles in a F10 M5CP (575). Same tyres, but the M6 easily overwhelms its rears compared to the M5. Given std M6 has the same? M5CP engine, my view the M6CP has notably more power. However I do accept engine to engine manufacturing differences may accentuate these differences.
