Hey all,

Have been looking at picking up a used M135i, one of the cars I was interested in has the following service history:

21k – Serviced by BMW (recorded on iDrive)
42k – Serviced by independent (not recorded on iDrive)
45k – Current mileage

Just wondering whether the service done by an independent can retrospectively be added to iDrive? Either through BMW dealer or someone with BimmerCode etc. Have done a few searches but haven’t found anything conclusive.

Thanks!

I had the same dilemma but opposite way around. I purchased a 3 series which had its first service done by a car supermarket so not in idrive.

I spoke to BMW and they won’t add it as they didn’t do it - they basically said it doesn’t really matter as long as you have the proof of service.

I’m just going to use it as an excuse to to just use an Indy for future servicing - may as well have a stack of papers if I already have one paper.

BMW like VW charge for access to the online service history log, I doubt they'll add it.

Just wondering if anyone has any new info about retrospectively logging a service on a BMW’s iDrive...as in, is it possible?

Possibly going to get an oil service carried out on my OH’s 18 month old 118i at an indy rather then a BM dealer but the indy is in the process of sorting the hard/software he needs to log the service on the car. Obviously if he carries out the oil service in the next week or so but could log it on the iDrive as and when he can, that would be great!

Hi,
To log onto the BMW AOS portal is free, the garage just has to register and have a vat number. They can then log the service in there.

All services logged online can be transferred to the car at a later date. This can be done with genuine Ista via the AOS portal. Or a main dealer can do it. It’s a write service function in the diagnostic test.

You can’t log a service online if it’s more than a month since the service date.

Hope that helps

Oh right, is that the ‘central BMW database’ I’ve seen mentioned on here, that all main dealers would use to log services etc?

Thanks for your help mate.
