BMW X3 - DSP Amplifier - Fried?
Discussion
Mrs Wisdom's pride and joy has just gone very quiet. No radio, no NAV voice, no nothing and the DSP option has disappeared from the screen.
When I accessed the radio settings, DSP is set at 0 (zero) indicating no DSP connected. There is but, I am suspecting it might be fried.
I got a non-DSP replacement (DSP Amps are c £1200 new and about £300 on eBay), not working ether (according to Mrs W who switched them!).
Questions;
1 - Do these DSP Amps have a "track record"
2 - Where do amps usually earth, is it via their casing or the wiring loom (Mrs W didn't earth the casing of the replacement)?
3 - Any other options?
Thanks - NW

A little resurrection here as I've still not fixed it!!
It was the Amp - Took it out and one of the CBs was very burned!! It is a BMW amp, not H-K.
Is there any way to cap-off the plug into the amp (effectively bypassing it)? Anyone have a wiring diagram of the DSP Amp In/Out??
I have Googled - A lot - The answer however may well have stared me in the face and I am none the wiser.....

Either look for a 2rd hand replacement on ebay / google, or go to a car stereo installer and ask them about by passing or sending it off for repair.
Been in similar situation was with a OEM amp failing. Lots of pain with little gain, and learnt the heard way those are the only 2 options.
