Well no they have appreciated in value over the last 2 years, based on my WBAC quote.
They haven't.

From what I've seen OG prices are flat to down, OG LCI flat to up and Comp prices are allover the place due to the recent cessation of production and wider spread in condition and options that make it a more polarising proposition. In the wider scheme of things they are all doing quite well for what they offer in return.

Manual OG or LCI cars are very stable indeed - probably up a bit even. This is the entire UK availability of Approved cars...

Hopefully people are realising there’s precious little in accessible replacements coming through, and hanging on to enjoy them more. Can see the 718 GTS 4.0 debacle operating to keep drivers in M2/M2C; certainly impacted my aspirations to migrate that way

I am looking at M2s vs M240i (say 2016/17 and sub 35000 miles, not necessarily AUC but with full BMW FSH). I think the 'how much better is the M2' discussion has been done many times, but for me if the M240i was sufficiently cheaper than an M2 I'd still consider it.

The thing is the like for like delta seems to be about £8K (say £27K vs £19K) - maybe with a well bought M2 you might get the delta to £7K. I'd expect greater depreciation with the M240i, and it feels to me the delta should be nearer £10-11K at this time, especially considering that both are boosted by this perverse Covid price hike (same cars, now a year older, being advertised for more now that the start of 2020) - there is clearly only one way to go, & I think the M240i will fare worse

Thoughts, not on which is better, we all know the answer to that, but on the price delta?

M will lose money less quickly that 240, so the delta may grow in time. Running costs may offset that saving, however the overall cost of ownership over a given period MAY be less for the more expensive car

Itll certainly be close enough to justify seeking the M over the regular car

I agree, particularly as the running costs are very close.

I am still watching M2 Comps very closely and I'm very impressed with how OG Manual values are holding up! Almost Porsche levels of depreciation (or lack of) which is making me very tempted indeed.

In fairness I think this is essentially the Covid effect where all boats rise with the tide BUT I still think OG cars were a little underpriced when they hit rock bottom at the end of 2019.

The other aspect is that a lot of S/H buyers seem to want to buy a manual yet they didn't sell many when new.

Someone is being ambitious with their pricing, even at that mileage.

Bloody hell.

That feels close to £10K overpriced.

Forgive my ignorance, but can I ask what the 718 GTS 4.0 comment refers to?

Thanks in advance.

A hard one to price really especially with prices the way they are. Pre facelift with M Performance bits and 1,800 miles.

I am not sure I would want a car that has only covered 100 miles in over a year.

Agreed. But not a pups chance its worth that. Thats well in to 2018 Competition money, albeit with more (but still below average) miles.

I paid £32,500 for a manual M2 LCI with 18k miles from a BMW dealer in September 2020 (when prices had recently risen and manual LCI's were like hens teeth)...

Looking at AutoTrader/PH now, I'd imagine my car is worth what I paid for it then despite having an extra 10k miles on it...(the cheapest manual LCI with options is £34k - Albeit only 11k miles)

Easily.

I am wondering if M2 manuals aren't going to be long term low depreciators. Recently there were more 1Ms than manual M2s AUC.

M2 OG LCI manual vs auto price comparison at similar age and mileage. Looks good for manual cars!
