Seems like the market for OG manual cars has gone bonkers again. Down to only 4 cars in the AUC network atm.

True but I guess the number of manual LCI cars must be very small to start with.

30 manual LCI M2's for sale on Autotrader at the moment.

An astonishing 371 M2's for sale in the UK at the moment.

I was looking at these last summer. Prices have dropped a small amount on the comps IMO

I can only see x7 LCI manual N55 on AT but I suspect you also include Comp.

Is 371 high or low historically ? I haven't followed the evolution of numbers on the market.

I can only see 6 LCI manual (N55) on AT (maybe one sold overnight hehe)

I think 371 is pretty high, compared to when I bought mine in 2020 at least...

What LCI mean?

It's an acronym for BMWs silly name for "facelift", life cycle impulse.

It meant LED lights instead of Xenons, new rear light design, digital dashboard, slightly different idrive.

Thank you

I thought the facelift was the change from 'standard' M2 to Competition M2. Is there another facelift I should be looking out for when I buy in a couple of months time?

Theres the original (sometimes referred to as OG) car, came out 2016. Then theres the LCI (facelift) came out late 2017, then theres the M2 Competition, came out 2019.

The easiest way to externally tell the difference between an original and LCI is the position of the reversing lights. The LCI cars have the reversing light at the bottom of the cluster.

You can also tell by the shape of the interiors of the front lights but i find the rear lights easier.

Also its a digital "effect" dashboard, rather than a full digital dash. Dark overlay on the clocks and a small LED cluster.

I prefer the old rear lights but at least the new ones don't let water in as often I understand. It took them to swap mine twice under warranty to find a set that (seemingly) didn't have water ingress.

There are also changes to the dashboard design, iDrive 6 with touchscreen and LED headlights.

I'd have no qualms about the original car at all, but watch the pricing of them as they are often priced at the same or sometimes more than the LCI cars.

Its quite possible to pay more for a 2016 OG than you would for a 2017 LCI.

I prefer the dials in the OG. They have a grey background with //M logo which reminds me of previous M cars i've lusted after. The digi clocks in the M2 comp felt odd to me

No, the early comps don’t have GPF. I don’t know the changeover date but suspect sometime during 2019.

My Comp was registered in November 2018 and had the gpf.

All comps have the big exhaust silencer hanging down below the back bumper, which IMO really spoils the main thing i like about the M2 shape - its @rse end.

When i looked last year it became clear that the adoption of the S55 came along at the same time as having to choke it with a very ugly, and quiet sounding exhaust.

All comps have the particulate filter. This is the reason they had to drop the N55 and put the S55 in. It was to do with the emissions regs.
