Well the savage depreciation has already started...

Whats that.... 200 miles on the clock with carbon ceramics... £25k+ off vs list??

At a guess, it’s one they registered without intending to use as a Demonstrator.

So they will have reclaimed the VAT on the full price, and will now only pay VAT on any profit they make.
irrelevant. Vat treatment is no different to any other car they buy/sell. How many times do we have to read 'you lose the vat when you drive it off the lot'.

Just to clarify my buy, I got it for £80K RRP was £102K including the Performance Exhaust.
So with such low miles and the car being the very best presented i have honestly ever bought, I think I won, RV could go either way, not bothered TBH.
There are about 35 M5's so not many, not many orders so the car could hold money better down the line.
So many "Greens and electrics" these V8 cars will a rare find soon.

Cracking deal on a fantastic car you've had loads of M cars so will be interested to hear your thoughts once you've had a proper drive.

I wasn't questioning your deal just the other poster who thinks you lose the VAT element of a car sale when you drive off the forecourt which of course you don't, you generally lose money depending on the market (but it has nothing to do with VAT).

Enjoy the M5!

It may not once have been the case perhaps. smile

But: “What you get is a discount equivalent to the VAT. Of course the VAT remains applied to the lower price of the car bringing the price you pay plus VAT to around 16.6 per cent less than list.”

https://www.honestjohn.co.uk/askhj/answer/49294/ho...

Note the date though.

Hi Wills, so far I think this M5 is the best of them for me, I have as you know had all the "M" from E90 on, this one IMO is the best.
Does all things well and some outstanding, what a car.

Still, nothing to do with VAT. Honest John doesn’t say it does and he is no authority on the matter.

As we've stated they state the same "The VAT issue is a red herring" anyway OT.

Good point - the thread is about how you can always get a better M car if you wait a year. smile

I received a carlow quote today, for a spec'd car, available in 1 week-cancelled order i suspect. Bloody high spec. £115k
and I st you not, the discount off RRP is £5. Not 5k. A pint of beer

and it's not even a Competition

Two things I've recently observed with CarWow:

- several 'bids' of £0 discount (which appears to then block other dealers from making bids),
- deliveries of CarWow-ordered cars often appear to be severely delayed which you're only informed about several weeks after a deposit has been placed (as was my experience with a new Merc E63s).

I don't know why dealers bid '0%' discounts. It ruins the whole experience. If your offers zero then don't send it through.

It's an intentional effort to undermine CarWow IMO.

Most dealers I've spoken to HATE such companies with a passion.

No salesperson wants to be part of a Dutch auction, until his boss tells him it's a good idea and gives him the writedown.

IIRC a couple of years ago, BMW UK actively discouraged dealers from participating on CarWow; these 0% discounts are to block the five slots and prevent other dealers bidding.

Back on topic, new M5 is on the cards for next summer! Brown outside, brown inside and no badges. Each to their own I suppose!
