These look stunning in the flesh, but they’re so bloody big now.

I would love another for a drive to the south of France or Spain, then jump into a sports car for the intricate stuff.

On our roads, where can you use the performance of these M5s?

It really is an issue that!

Hi Jazzer, the performance is so quick, i'm having be much more careful with it.

Your car looks absolutely stunning John, right up my alley!

I hope you’re putting some miles on it, can you just imagine it at full chat on an autobahn?

The traction in damp conditions will really set it apart from previous M5s.

I have a double garage, but with a 7 foot entrance; would it get in?

I know it’s a bit longer than the F10, but what about its width?

Hi Jazzer no problem getting it in a 7 foot wide garage, mine is the same, two 7 foot doors, the new M5 is 1.3 inches wider than my 540i, not much wider if any than the F10, just an 1" i think longer nothing in it really.
Traction epic forget the flashing lights unless it's the old Bill. wink

F10 dimensions below

F10 M5 (2011–2016)
BMW F10 M5
Length 4,910 mm (193.3 in)
Width 1,891 mm (74.4 in)
Height 1,451 mm (57.1 in)
Kerb weight 1,945 kg (4,288 lb)

on a side note I really think the next m3 will strike the balance really well between comfort and dynamic fun.
Well I hope so!

Has anyone had a 1/2 decent PCP offer yet, as it appears the discounts are far away!

I had an offer of £15k deposit, £1,350 pm & 8k miles PA - it's a no from me then & didn't get as far as asking about GFV.

Looks brilliant.

I'm curious about your thoughts in comparison to the F10 M5:

1. Is it still possible for the power to overwhelm the 4wd or can you pretty much bury the throttle in any situation?

2. I sort of enjoy the fact that the F10 has way more power than traction as it does give it character. Does the new one feel lacking in that way?

3. The F10 DCT feels more manual than auto to me and seven speeds is not too confusing when using paddles. I know BMW have made the new car's auto box very punchy, but does it still have that manual 'feel' and do the 8 gears make it more of a chore when manually shifting?

1/ You can plant your foot even on a bend, it just flies way better than the F10.
2/ This new M5 is IMO by far in advance of the F10 m5 i had and the M6 GC CP.
3/ The speeds of shift are fine and fast 8 gears are not needed when blasting, the box is fine for me.
After owning 3 M3's 2 M5's and the M6 GC CP, this M5 beats all IMHO.
You need a long test drive on your own.
PS) I straight line drag would out do the F10, and on UK damp roads do it easy.
Have a look here for power.

Thanks for that. I think a test drive is on the cards, but I'm going to try to get another year or so out of the F10.

The concept of being able to floor it in the bends and get acceleration in excess of the F10's capabilities is fairly mind blowing. My worry (which I suspect is misplaced) is that it ends up being a bit 'point and shoot', like the RS6 for example.

The F10's limitations bring character, which I have really enjoyed. It would be great if that was still there with the F90. From your comments, it sounds very promising.

At the end of the day, these cars will not get stretched off the track, so boot it when the roads allow and sit back and enjoy when not, mine has the Sports Exhaust and it sounds great even when not blasting.

How does this compare to the RS6 Performance? I know the M5 is the newer car but the RS6 looks much beefier in my eyes and I'm swaying towards that for next year.....
