One of the reason's I wouldn't put that kind of money into a new M5, S63, S8 etc. I've bought and sold Lambo's before and lost a tiny fraction of what I've lost on BMWs over the years. First one I bought from HR Owens, kept for 18mths, put 12k on it and then Owens sold it for me on SOR. Gave me just over what they'd sold it to me for. Happy days
Even those days are gone now though frown

Has anybody on PH ordered a new M5?

Or know anybody who has taken delivery (in the UK)?

Most people have cancelled their orders and waiting for the CP, I was hoping for good deals on the STD one's....................... no such luck, however next year I expect some large discounts.

I think BMW have just inflated the price a step too far.

Its mental to think an m5/5 series can be in the realms of 100k with a literally only a few options ticked.
Regardless of how capable it is!

The Competition Package is now up on the configurator.

Also interestingly I can't seem to opt for the Performance Exhaust option any more ??

I spent some time in a Donnginton Grey M5 at the showroom a couple of days. It really does feel super nice.

I was thinking about getting an E63S (they are offering good discounts on them now) and then in a couple of years get the M5 when there should be good support in terms discounts....but now I think I am just going to get the M5 and pay full whack for it !

Are you going to trade in your M6 GC or just add it to the collection?

Drive them both and see which you prefer? For me it became a simple choice to keep my E63S as I much preferred it

I thought it moved from an option to be standard on the CP?

I have the M5 for an extended test on the 26th June, got it for a day, should be able to make a decision by then, will wait for the discounts though IF I jump.

Yep fair point about driving them !

Just something about currently owning an M6 Gran Coupe, E39 M5, E34 M5 and E30 M3....the call of the F90 M5 is strong even though discounts are Zero.

Or maybe I should just flip it on its head and get into an AMG which to date I have never had.

Would be good to hear your feedback on the F90 vs E63s comparison.

I understand that they are both excellent and F90 M5 is perhaps slightly more refined / comfortable and the AMG a tad more focused and shouty, in a good way !

Yes perhaps ! I was actually only configuring a non CP M5.

The one I went to look at my dealership, of course non CP, had the Sport Exhaust on it.

Had one on test for a day with the Sports Exhaust. There were several things I didn’t like about the car and the exhaust was one of them. Far too quiet even when switched on. And it farts on upshifts too.

What else didn't you like about the car?

Noise, steering and gearbox. The car is faster than the F10 but that is due to shorter gearing and 4wd. It is not fun to drive though and the steering feels quite artificial to me. I found the suspension was a notch firmer than the F10 even in comfort. Overall very disappointing but much like with the F10 I suspect the CP will make it the car it should’ve been from the start.

The F10 fart too smile. One thing I don’t like is the price. It’s not a 90k car. Not as posted the residual is 30k after 36 months.

F10 doesn’t fart, it cracks which is different to the fart the slusher gives. The price is a definite stumbling block and the deals will need to be generous to make purchasing one even remotely likely for most people.

Lol. One area where the new one is predictably good is the tech. If that’s your thing then great but I didn’t buy an M5 for that.

The biggest issue is, with almost new f10s at 45-50k. A monster of a car. Is the new one twice the f10 car. I absolutely get that if you don’t care and are happy to burn cash. All good.
