So, in conclusion, if you voted for Brexit, you don’t deserve a nice foreign car.
That's the most ridiculous thing I have read on here for some time. Well done.

Was offered 8% of a new M5 today from Cooper’s..... of course this will be 10-15% in coming months with lower rate APR. You’d be a fool to believe the BS of ‘BMW uk won’t allow discounts’. What tosh.....
Interesting ! I bought my M6 Gran Coupe new through Coopers and of course got an amazing deal at circa 23% off or so.

Are you sure Cooper are stating they can do 8% off a new M5 ???

I’d love to join you in placing an order for a CP, but the dealers I’ve spoken to are still not entertaining any form of discount.

Did you have any success in this regard?

Yes, that’s what the DP offered without any prompting. To be honest I didn’t go into the detail or push for more as happy with my current daily until next spring and didn’t want to waste anybody’s time when no intention to order at moment. He did say no BMW support, only usual dealer margins to play with and virtually no interest from buyers.... i’ve no reason to think he’d be making this up given the amount of cars I’ve bought from them previously. As a previous post mentioned, the GFV is awful and is a big tell from BMW that they have no confidence in the cars used values.

Having had the car on loan, not even sure it’s that much different from my previous F10? From memory it really didn’t feel noticeably any quicker once on the move and still a big old beast to hustle along. Didn’t get out of it and think ‘I’ve got to have one’, which has surprised me a bit! Upside, other than the naff red M buttons, IMO the interior really is beautifully executed and feels on the money.

Thank you. How are you enjoying the Brexit process so far? Everything you dreamt it would be?

Anyway, I still think that it will be *relatively* more expensive to buy a new BMW following Brexit (assuming it actually happens). The pound will drop again against the euro making it harder for BMW to offer large discounts. Less cars will be bought in the UK and the price of a three year old F90 M5 will be *relatively* more expensive than a three year old F10 M5 was three years into the lifecycle.

I hope I’m wrong because I want a new M5 in two years’ time and I won’t buy it without the big discounts I got on my F10 M5 and my M4.

I'm getting a bit worried by the number of people who are on the two year wait like me for a used F90. What's that going to do to prices!
Couldn't some of you just go out and buy a new one and help the rest of us out?

The M5 was driven poorly, the start was crap.
It would have been level with the Merc IMO.

Not at all. Its the benefit of LC on a clutch vs torque convertor gearbox.

On the Pan (I have one) or the Merc, you will repeat the same launch every single time you choose. On the BMW you will always be playing the guessing game.

Thats not to say in the real world the traditional system is worse, it isn't, its better in many ways, but for launching you see the issue.

A better test would have been to do the same test without LC.

yes

Disappointed Autocar didn't realise this and do a few runs - rolling start, LC, LC-off etc etc. It's as if they wanted to show the M5 up

I thought the torque converter on the F90 locked after moving off?

Do we really care about a drag race? They are all scary fast off the line. The M5 is widely considered the better steer by a small margin. The merc sounds better. Brand loyalty is a big factor. I doubt many AMG fans switch to M. Might be wrong. Both apex cars.

Been offered an M5 pre-reg for £40K + my 540i M Sport, the specced up to £102K before first reg.
Registered in March 235 miles on the clock now.

It has everything including CCB BUT, I am concerned about the RV with this Brexit crap coming next year, £40K + mine is a hell of a lot of Cash.

I think the residual value on these are really poor, low £30k in 4 years. If you sell before, even worse.

3 year old F10s are selling just under £40k.

I wouldn't unless the deal was fantastic.

What are they valuing your 540 at?

A base spec can be had for 43 ish so depending on spec and I assume it has some tasty options no more than 50k for a high spec. It’s almost new. Sounds like they are assigning 45k to it. The deal as it stands isn’t bad. It’s just the silly M5 value that makes it so. Is it twice a 540. That’s a good question. Id say, no way.

Shame the 550 isn’t available.

Right now I’d consider 760 over an M5. Bit barge like but that engine.

You're welcome. To say that I'd you voted to leave the EU means that you do not deserve a nice foreign car is still a ridiculous statement to make, despite the fact that once you go past that, what you say could be true (numbers).

Brexit itself at the moment is what it is. If the people making the decisions weren't so incompetent then I think it would be a much better place.

Oh, and I didn't actually vote. I was stuck in a train station due to the flooding in and around London that day so didn't get home until after voting closed.
