Brill result.

You would never get this from Audi. This is why I have not bought the RS6!!

After a bit of back and forth, BMW have agreed to pay 80% of the parts cost (both sides dampers and related parts) and also give a new 2 year warranty on said parts.

Total bill is around £2650. My contribution is £850 ish.
So that would suggest the parts are a couple of grand. I'd be amazed if BMW doesn't just debit the cost on the damper manufacturer.

Wow, that's still a chunk of change.

£850 sounds like the cost price to the dealer but they didn't put their 300% margin on and gave you a load of cobblers about goodwill etc.

st. A. Brick

I guess that's the problem with having all of this tech

Not that i could afford to buy or run a new-ish M car anyway, but i've intentionally gone for a 130i with basically no toys on it at all, just so i can keep it for ages and hopefully it won't throw up a bit bill.

On the other hand my BMW K1300S motorbike i specifically bought from a BMW dealer to get their 2 yr warranty. It's got some toys including electronic suspension adjustment and i'm paranoid as it's not japanese.

there is nothing fancy about the suspension. In fact KW, which is superior could be had for half that. It's an M tax

It’s a “competition pack” car so they claim dampers are not regular M parts and have to be specially ordered from Germany.

They are electronically adjustable.

Even with that being said i would never have different suspension brand parts on the rear from the front.

I certainly wouldn't start changing parts for cheaper alternatives when it's only just over 3 years old.

My point is at 3k it’s bloody expensive. The OP is happy but it’s a gentle reminder at what the costs are outside warranty.

Bad the shock failed so soon but great they put it right and took most of the cost to fix it.

And car cleaned and vac‘ed !!!
