Mine in HS arrived yesterday, I love it. Yes it isn't a shouty colour, it's pretty subtle, which is what I wanted. I'm surprised it's so popular in that respect.
Having come out of a eye popping san marino blue M6GC with orange seats I wanted the M2 to be a bit more "under the radar" than that.
I've done 50 miles in it today and it is the best car I've drive in years, it's a manual and I haven't notice any elbow / armrest clashes..
Looks really nice that - is your rear plate lopsided slightly?Having come out of a eye popping san marino blue M6GC with orange seats I wanted the M2 to be a bit more "under the radar" than that.

My leased M2C in HS just got released to carrier today so I might have it in a couple of weeks if i'm lucky.
Does it feel fast?

Funny you say that, no it's dead level, but the curvature of the boot handle rim above the plate makes the plate look wonky when viewed from an acute angle like that.My leased M2C in HS just got released to carrier today so I might have it in a couple of weeks if i'm lucky.

It feels light and lithe and punts along very nicely on just a modicum of throttle, it's just picking up at 3.5 - 4k and then..... its time to short shift - the joys of running in.
Steering is great, lots of feedback over the road surface and most notably the wheel loads and unloads nicely in corners as you enter compressions and top over crests, like steering always used to.
Just makes me realise how my M6 has steering made of wood lubricated with treacle.

But the metal just "popped" in and out right next to the edge of the bonnet, leaving a crease in the metalwork! Devastated! body work needed an only 3 days old!!
Looks like I'll be calling dent devils this weekend....

I closed the bonnet tonight, the left catch didn't take, so I put my palm on the edge of the bonnet above the catch and pushed down (as i've done before a thousand times)....

Christ, feel the pain there! I’ve always adopted the drop it from high option, having done similar to an early car of mine. Mine was about 10yrs old & second hand, being my first car. Still hate the noise it makes though.I closed the bonnet tonight, the left catch didn't take, so I put my palm on the edge of the bonnet above the catch and pushed down (as i've done before a thousand times)....

With gas struts you can't "drop" a bonnet old style, you just pull it down (putting finer marks all over) and it sort of falls the last foot or so when it gets low enough, varies with temperature etc.
It's an odd catch too, there is no front under bonnet hand release, you have to pull the in-car lever twice then the bonnet just lifts up.
If one side doesn't catch, then you either walk back into the car and pull the release catch again, walk back round lift and re-close the bonnet or push the corner down.
I know which I'll be doing in future, the metal is very very thin...

Nice to see someone with those wheels. Not a fan of the new ones.
Me neither. They do look moderately better in the flesh. Never been a fan of the 437 TBH so can't wait to get them changed with the new ones, look good in the flesh, especially the jet black option.

I've got a lease ordered too but other than the order number not much more details - did you get your update from lease company or BMW? Thanks.mikeN54 said:

Wow! I’ve had the same bonnet catch issue as you, but on the right hand side. I don’t see any creased metal though? Whereabouts is your damage? I’m worried I’ll have done the same to mine too I closed the bonnet tonight but the left catch didn't take, so I put my palm on the edge of the bonnet above the catch and pushed down (as i've done before a thousand times)....

You'd have noticed if it happened. The skin of the bonnet gave way under the palm of my hand right by the edge above the catch. It dished in then popped out when I quickly took my hand off.The new proud crease is slight but about 1inch to the left of main left side bonnet crease. Thankfully HS being not too reflective in dull weather it's not immediately noticeable, but I know it's there and you can feel it with your fingers.
The car's dirty now, so I'll leave it that way till I get it sorted..

Sorry to hear about the bonnet crease. I have several cars that need the lids pushing closed to latch them and my technique is to use both hands where possible and to use a closed fist/backs of the fingers between first and second knuckles. My rationale is that it's a little more uncomfortable to exert a lot of force this way then when using the palms, both hands distribute the pressure over a greater area and using the backs of the hands leaves no oily palm or finger prints. YMMV.

What are people doing for winter tyres? I’m currently planning on buying 763M alloys next summer, which would leave my 788 alloys free to use as winters. But given they are 19 inch, it seems silly to use 19 inch winter tyres given the relative price of them . But switching to 18 inch would involve a 3rd set of alloys plus tyres. Am I best off just biting the bullet and buying 19 inch winters for my 788s?
