M2 Competition
Discussion
Mines at Stoke BMW but I'm told they can't register it until Q1 2019 Due to be delivered on 3rd January but they want to drive it to me - 520 miles away which means I've only got 500 miles (dealer 120 miles away) before first service which is an unexpected earlier than anticipated bill.... Said I'm not very keen on this and explained my reasons so see what happens next.
Where do you live? Orkney? I didn't think it was possible to drive 520 miles from Stoke in any direction!
Stoke BMW (knights) are lying tosser's (my local dealers). More likely some target or salesmanship bonus reason why
They don't want to register till 2019...
Joking aside, I think that's competely unacceptable to drive all that way at monotonous road speed during running in, which should be widely varying speeds, loads, gears, stops and starts etc.
No good at all for the car.
I paid for a trailer delivery. £160 from York to Stafford, obviously more in your case.
I'd argue for a cost share if I was you.

Definitely get it trailered, pick it up yourself or pay soneone trusted to drive it to you.
My M135i was delivered. Young lad arrived, windows down, music on loud. Got out and said "Hi mate. These are good aren't they. Not driven one before. Quick ain't they??"
He then showed me round. It wasn't clean and smelled a bit inside.
He was quick to delete the mpg history.
I asked if he'd observed the running in instructions, which was met with a blank look on his face and shrugged shoulders.
And it turnedout it had a) left the dealer the day before, and b) covered double the mileage from the dealer to me
Never again

I was looking at getting M2 66 plate delivered as I hate London. So trailer price above not bad, similar price to how much the dealer quoted to drive it down.
Food for thought

I suspect that Q4 2018 target for the dealership/salesman/dept has been reached and they'd rather have one in the bag for the next target period. Nothing too wrong with that as long as they're honest about it and give you an incentive to wait too. Once someone says they 'can't' register it they're clearly lying and that would annoy me.I am an older M2 owner! At 56 years old!
I have built my own rally cars, done endurance karting, and driven faster and lighter cars than my M2! It's very good.
The First M2 (2016-2018) N55 "only" has 365 bhp (the car I own.) It's quick.
For the purpose of a road car, it has enough grip,it has enough power, it has enough torque, yes, the suspension is a bit stiff, but overall it's fairly comfortable.
For me it is enough fun,you can balance it on the throttle and corner neutrally ,or use your right foot to encourage oversteer!
The original M2 has enough for NEARLY all drivers, unless you think are a driving God!!
BMW are pulling people into their net by introducing the M2 competition
Power you can't use, grip you cannot exploit
The competition is cheap to produce for BMW but they Charge thousands extra for a car that offers virtually nothing over the original.
Be clever and don't be dragged in the BMW net.My point is SAVE your precious money!
Don't get me wrong,I understand that we always want more, afterall I bought an M2!
And it's your money, you are free to spend it the way you want.
The "competition" for the extra you pay doesn't give back enough to the driver
Enjoy your cars,I like winter, my M2 seems to have less rear grip this time of the year.
Naughty car...!! Have fun, that's what our cars are for.

So by that logic you might as well get a Golf R - or even a Fiesta ST - and save yourself £20k-£30k!! Actually, I was just reading EVO's Car of The Year Awards for 2018 and the Fiesta ST finishes ahead of the M2C - perhaps many a true word is indeed spoken in jest..... Both cars have identical wheel and tyre sizes, identical grip levels, identical suspension. Just more oomph in the M2C.I have built my own rally cars, done endurance karting, and driven faster and lighter cars than my M2! It's very good.

Mine in HS arrived yesterday, I love it. Yes it isn't a shouty colour, it's pretty subtle, which is what I wanted. I'm surprised it's so popular in that respect.
Having come out of a eye popping san marino blue M6GC with orange seats I wanted the M2 to be a bit more "under the radar" than that.
I've done 50 miles in it today and it is the best car I've drive in years, it's a manual and I haven't notice any elbow / armrest clashes..
Here she is just delivered to us at home yesterday....
<DROOL> very nice indeed!
