Reading a few pages back about peoples winter tyre set ups, is everyone running a square set up? I'm looking at going with the 640m 18s just wondering what traction is like with the 235s on the rear?

Here's a photo of the 235 Alpin4's strectched over the 9" 640m rears

I went out for a cautiously progressive Sunday drive out at c.4degs on wet/damp/sheep st roads on tyres with c200 miles on them a few weeks back

Yes it's twitchy but with the t/c on it was fine as long as I stayed in engine mode 1 or 2. Mode 3 was too spiky for the conditions/grip levels so ultimately slower as I was constantly having to modulate which became tedious after a while.

I haven't had any issues in the past month, but then the conditions haven't been particularly challenging yet. I'm also new to the car so can't compare the what the standard staggered MPSS setup would have been like in the same conditions compared to the currently fitted Aplin4.

Which I think is a long way of saying the 235 square setup has been fine for everyday in the conditions so far smile

What sort of prices are lightly used one owner cars going for?
Less than 10K miles, 2018, from around £38K

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202008313...

Less than 5K miles, 2019, from around £39K

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202009053...

Less than 5K miles, 2020, from around £45K

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202008202...

Which would suggest the sweet spot is a low miles 2019 car. IMHO.

Thanks for the reply, now the weather seems to be below 4c the MPSS are struggling for traction, didnt used to notice it so much in my m235 but I guess it’s something to do with it’s much softer setup and no lsd.

Well I just swapped my M5C for a M2C and I must say even after just 2 days I prefer the M2. Compact, light(er) and whilst not as banzai as the M5 it still feels plenty fast enough for its size. Downside already though is boy racers glued to my tail almost everywhere I go!

The new boy racer around here are people in Tesla’s..

Well done on the Comp though.
I’m 18 months in with mine, and thought it’d be gone by month 6...

Or those pesky Honda e or MINI e or whatever - they are really quick up to 50 or 60 - I don't normally race people but occasionally I have had to use a disproportional amount of revs to eventually get rid of them while they seem to be smoking a pipe in their slippers.

Two slightly left-field questions :

Are the washer jets heated ? (I notice that the underbonnet has not heat/sound insulation)

Why are there no headlight washer jets, given their intensity - is this not required for LED ?

Don't know about the first one but as far as i know, LED headlights typically emit < 2,000 lumens and so are not required by law to have washers.

Thinking about pulling the trigger on a 68 plate, 19k miles for £37k. Both packs, seems reasonable spec, just service and good tyres. Only downside is 4 previous owners. One of them being a pre-Reg, 1st owner 6 months, next 1 month then the last for 18 months. Car looks immaculate but would this worry anyone? Mostly the 1 month worries as it was either a flip (hopefully) or rejection... however given the last owner had it 18 months it does calm my thoughts a bit...

Opinions please!

Is this private or from a trader? Surprised its that much to be honest, I'd be very happy to get that for my 11k car with similar spec but a few upgrades! regarding the number of owners, cars like these are sometimes bought "to scratch the itch" with owners owning for short period before selling on to move to the next car - Unless it looks like its been abused I wouldn't worry too much.

Trade price for my Dec ,18 car is about £34k (10k miles, pre reg plus one owner, both packs etc) so I’d say £37k from a dealer is slightly cheap.
Thought about selling mine for £38k...

The GFV on mine (Sept 20) after 48 months @8k pa is c.£24k. I bought it at c.£44k with a retail of c.£55k

So with a simplistic straight line depreciation, it'll be £39k, £34k, £29k, £24k over the four years. On a '68 plate, you'll be at somewhere between £34k-£38k trade depending on the precise date and mileage. £37k doesn't sound silly from a good dealer with a warranty.

How did you manage to secure a £11k discount ?

Is your a DCT if so it wouldn’t have the comfort pack or M2 pack?

£44k was an absolute bargain especially with 2.9% APR

Collecting my new M2 comp on Tuesday.
Managed to secure the last black M2 comp with M2 pack, comfort pack, DCT and Mperformance brakes, I had previously secured a car in the same colour and Spec however the Sales Manager who was supposed to transfer the car to my supplying dealer decided to register the car as a demonstrator after I had placed a deposit and secured BMW finance on the car !!

I paid £44k for mine (retail at the time was £57k) but was a pre reg with no miles.
DCt, both packs, speed display, wireless charging etc
