FWIW my gfv is c.£23k after 48 months so sept ‘24
I’m not sure M3C’s will ever be £23k! OG M2’s are £10k on that at the same age.

I am currently on the hunt for an M2C, specifically one in orange with a manual box. No private examples for sale currently but going by other colours 40/41k seems to be about what I’d need to pay.

Out of interest, how much lower did prices on these did pre-covid? I have seen quite a bit of talk about ‘inflated prices’.
Around the start of the lockdowns - so March 20 ish - you could have got an M2C from about £38K. A 2018 M2 LCI would have been around £32K, a 2016 M2 OG would have been around £26K. That would have been from a good independent, not main dealer prices.

M2C seems to be starting now at around £38K again if someone wasnt fussy about colour and spec. OG cars still seem to be north of £30K, LCI cars £33K ish.

Thats two years on when we'd otherwise maybe have expected a 10-15% drop over the prices from two years ago.

M2C and LCI cars seem to have dropped back a bit but the OG cars are still high - easily being £5K above their prices from 2 years ago.

Great info, appreciate that. Not a massive fluctuation price wise and don’t seem to be dipping right down like the larger M cars usually do.

I think they were underrated for quite a while but a lot of people have cottoned on to how good they are. The price of an OG one still surprises me. As the other two have dropped back i'd have expected the same for it.

I've been tracking them for a while. Cant justify one right now (or possibly ever!) as we need a 5 door hatch as our main car so its an M140i for now.

I don't have a C, just a 2017 car so perhaps not very relevant.

I find the servicing regime shockingly cheap even at official dealers. It works out at £200 a year (£500 for a major every 2 years in alternance to a minor at £240 every 2 years with brake fluid every 2 years at £50).

I have no idea why the major service is £820 on a Comp though but perhaps the S55 requires more work. I can't see how though.
I think the major service requires the spark plugs changing and on the S55 that means removing some additional charge pipes and the carbon strut brace. As an M2C owner it is a tad annoying but on the whole I do think the servicing costs are not bad at all.

Just wanted to say that my manual Comp is up for sale at High Wycombe and is a nice one if anyone is looking

perfect cosmetically, LBB, manual, up for 46K I think, I did just 1000 miles in it and loved even single one of them

Manual M2s are rare. Manual M2 Comp are very rare. Orange manual M2 Comps are even rarer but best of luck, you only need one car I guess. Might be tricky at that budget, particularly if you want AUC warranty, which you probably do.

Edit. This one seems to fit the bill and seems to still be within original warranty so you could buy the AUC warranty at the lower rate whne it is 3 years old, if unmodified.

I had edited my post to show that it was indeed possible at that budget, which you left out. The car you linked has no warranty though. I certainly wouldn't buy anything from them either without extensive DD.

You could buy the extended BMW warranty for just under 2 grand though. Or buy the one I linked and pay £1k for the warranty, if everything else checks out, including SH.

There are currently OG M2's on BMW AUC for £40K Holy feck the worlds gone mad... I almost pulled the trigger on a OG LCI M2 at Dick Lovett 24k

miles all the important options in the middle of lockdown was up for £31.5 which I thought was a great price then 2 weeks later was reduced to £29995..

It sold the next day.. My Covid hesitation held me back... The same car would be 7-8k more expensive now maybe more, The OG M2 are almost

overtaking the Comps at the minute. ( Price not performance I mean ) biggrin

If you are going to get an OG M2 then try to find a manual with sunroof and M Performance exhaust. You can open the slit on the sunroof even when it’s raining and listen to the exhaust. It never gets old, trust me.

Regarding the LCI/comp vs the OG prices it maybe that people are appreciating the classic dials. I personally prefer the symmetry of the OG dash, the classic roundrel lights and rear light cluster but I can understand why people could be swayed by the more modern looking dials on the LCI/Comp. Looking ahead into the future though what do you think people will prefer? Time will tell. For me the OG was a no brainier as it was cheaper and I actually preferred it even knowing the comp was on the way. II bought it 1 year old at a nice discount and have had 4 years of now pretty much depreciation free motoring.

Whatever you choose it’s pretty much nailed on that the car will be a future classic and it’s going to retain a big % of its value. If you are thinking of getting one just do it. Prices of new cars are getting crazy making these cars look like a bargain when viewed objectively.

Totally agree they could prove quite a good long term bet.

They only ever sold 1,000 or so manual M2s in the UK, inc 600 N55 cars. So still tiny numbers, even in comparison to the 450 1Ms (manual only). Perhaps they'll follow a similar flat depreciation curve from now, albeit at a lower price point.

I have a habit of buying and selling at the worst time. Just do the opposite to me.

Sold my 1M at bottom of market when values then skyrocketed and my M2 left in June 2020 before prices increased again. frown

I sold my 2018 Comp to a dealer in November.
They gave me £41k for it and currently still have it for sale for £46k. (I paid £44k for it 2.5 years earlier and was the only owner)
Every time I look at it I’m tempted to buy it back, but know it’s a stupid financial decision…

IMO it's M135/M140 prices keeping OG M2s looking good value.

2 yrs ago i paid £10k for a nice, sensible mileage M135i privately.

Now the same car would be £13k.

Dealers are asking £23k+ for 3-4 yr old M140s.

Personally, if an OG M2 is only 30% more i'd go for an M2 as historically M cars are a safer financial bet.

That was my man maths anyway!!

Track pack was not an option on UK, not sure about Germany market cars. The car in the link has the optional big brake kit, could be linked to that?

MHD is a tuning software that allows OTS (Off The Shelf) maps to be loaded into the DME, one of those maps is called 'GTS' which is a copy of the BMW M4 GTS calibration.

TrackPack was option 9D9 for some EU markets. It’s a combination of MDP (drivers pack, Vmax uplift to 270kmh and a driver training voucher), the sport brake pack and the DCT with drivelogic. Seems like a nice option to enable the full potential of the car.
