A little hypothetical at this stage but what would you go for?

Usage would be 3k miles a year max and maybe a couple of track days but fairly tame.

Still cant decide if i went the M2 route if i'd go manual or DCT....getting on a bit now so maybe DCT would help :-)

One of the main things to decide would be how long you were likely to keep it. M2s are still dropping reasonably quickly but you might be able to get in and out of a 1M over a couple of years without a lot of depreciation.

!m still going lower then you think too? IMO the collectible angle for now has run aground.

M2 tempting but yes i think 25k for one is upon us...

I'd go 1M, but i can see the draw to the M2 - nice looking cars, newer slightly quicker and DCT option, long beach blue looks good on them.

All depends what you want i guess...

1M:

-More Collectable
-Stick shift more involving
-Can have Valencia orange
-Rarer
-Will hold its resale value better
-Future Classic

M2:

-Supply is easy, so not rare really - still being made
-DCT is more common - arguably faster, but less involving (I find)
-Cant get orange.
-Will depreciate more than 1M due to supply being greater
-Personally if i bought one i'd have Manual, as more likely to be collectable and rarer in future, and more involving to drive

Just my personal views.

Nice choice to have though, maybe go see both, drive and then review your feelings after.

Happy Hunting
Andy

Many tks Andy nice round up summary that.

Am off next week am going to go take a look and compare.

Never keep on ironing out cash on cars so the 1M may be the winner.

How does white grad you though ? One at Dk 41 k sure will be cheaper

I don't think the market will completely drop for the M2 second hand. They had a real good run with the "limited supply" and people believing they would be scarce because of the 1M. They then dumped a lot of cars on the market in the last 6 months of production. They're trying to do the same routine with the M2C and "limited supply" but supply is still outstripping demand on the M2C.

1M is and will be collectable and is far more likely to hold its money over a couple of years.

The issue for me is when i come to sell it in 18 months and im long old list of sellers all over the classifieds.

I guess at least with the 1M if its one of those cars i end up keeping its not going to 20k anytime soon

Personally for me i would buy Valencia orange, but then i own a yellow M3 so not shy of a bold colour, so appreciate that not everyone is as brave as me, and that its a very subjective topic car colour.

From what i can tell Orange are the most desirable, white is very safe, black would never look clean! (sorry i hate black cars and have vowed never to own one again) Black takes a lot to keep clean and the swirl marks away, for me personally after Orange then white, but then you only have 3 colour choices on a 1M anyway! :-)

Bit more ££ than the DK car, but with BMW approved warranty? and Orange.

That DK car looks nice, low miles, priced well compared to the others.

Thats a tidy car, low miles, and has some expensive bits fitted (bmw performance) those seats look really good.

But how much? POA? I always give POA cars a wide berth myself, cant be doing with the hassle, for me the dealer either know how much they asking or not! I think just print the price! FFS. banghead

In the sunny walk around video it says "serviced this week,"in the text the last service was June.
So they've had it on sale 5 months?
Might be a chance for a deal. wink

If I were to follow A/Trader, I'd say it would depend on age of the female owner. The top priced (of the sub 30k milers) circa£60k has one mature lady owner, the second priced, one lady owner. What are they implying, If a Granny owned one, it'd be worth £70k?? wink

There were two I happened to see in dealers local to me, around 12 months ago maybe more, low milers (don't know number of owners) at £47k and £50K , so I don't think prices are increasing as there's several on A/T £42-50k. I would guess, icc will be in this range.

Video from icc wasn't inspiring, called it by the wrong name and with the time passed since video / service did make me think it might have been on sale a while?

Have you got the registration, current and any past plates, to see if there's any prior f/sale ads, any images/vids i.e. showing if it's been ragged on you tube or anything, or any intel that's useful with any M? ?

I looked long and hard at this. I preferred the 1m but potentially was going to put a lot of miles in my car so went M2. For low miles use id go 1M. It’s a special car but I think more mileage sensitive. Collectible cars attract beards and they don’t like miles, they prefer polishing

Both are great.
I have a 1M and my brother an M2 so drive both.
The M2 is definitely more grown up than the 1M, the 1M is harsher and more raw. 1M will hold money much better and is much more special, you never see them, lots must be tucked away. Brother has done 20k and still loves it every day, which to me makes it a great car, manual, rwd, great chassis = FUN..
