Both are great.
I have a 1M and my brother an M2 so drive both.
The M2 is definitely more grown up than the 1M, the 1M is harsher and more raw. 1M will hold money much better and is much more special, you never see them, lots must be tucked away. Brother has done 20k and still loves it every day, which to me makes it a great car, manual, rwd, great chassis = FUN..
A real shame if people are hiding cars away.

Maybe it’s due to be fact not many were made so not seen often. I’ve never seen one on the road period

Easy decision 1M !
I've had mine from new and added a few mods.
Akrapovic exhaust, Performance seats and Birds suspension.
It's just an epic little car so much fun and just fizzing with character and energy, it's a car that I will never sell.
The white car that was for sale was previously owned by a m3cutters forum member and has been well looked after and having the performance seats included is a real find as they are getting very hard to find and add greatly to the driving experience.

No, Steve's car didn't have the performance seats .
It belonged to E46M3Mike a cutters member but I think it's been sold as the add has disappeared.
Both those cars were for sale at the same time.

I see ICC have out a price up now , about what I guessed. Not sure if the OP is reading now , but you’ve provided some useful background for him.

I'm sure the previous owner would fill you in with any more info if you needed it.

Coming from an M2 Owner... Buy the 1m, only reason I didn't was because of the price and the feeling of wanting to use my M2 through winter. For me now days the 1m has become too collectable to daily unfortunately, but for your miles and financial situation its a no brainer.

1M.

I was lucky enough to be making the same decision earlier this year when looking at replacements for the Exige. Drove the M2 a couple of times, very good car but just didn’t feel that special.

Less than 5 minutes in a 1M and I just knew it was for me. Very special cars.

M2 would probably make for a better daily driver though.

As above. I’m an M2 owner but if I wasn’t doing so many miles I’d be driving a 1M. On saying that the M2 is a very good car but it lacks the a little of rawness and character of the 1M. The only other BMW that id like to own would be a 1M

As a former 1M owner and now M2 (DCT) this is spot on.

One criticism of the 1M as a daily driver >12k miles p.a. was it was a little too firm a ride. perfect for weekend but too stiff for weekday commute.

M2 by comparison is a brilliant daily, especially with DCT. But does lack some of the rawness of the 1M and certainly the specialness. Still a great car though and one I'm enjoying very much. All 11k miles and counting.
