For me it´s the greatest BMW body, the greatest (attainable) NA BMW engine with the best gearbox.

With an open exhaust and remap I´m aiming for 560hp.
As awesome as that is, and it really is very awesome, isn't the weight distribution of that engine in a stripped out E30 going to be really quite bad?

With a DCT or better still a manual gearbox.

An M1 with A/C that actually works and some light PAS for manoeuvring. Engine, gearbox and running gear are perfect as is.
Are you sure that 277bhp is enough? wink

Maybe not, mine is running 330.

But if you changed the engine or turbocharged it, you’d lose (or at least change) the sound. A de-rated pro car engine, running say 400 ish, might suffice I suppose.

How about a 2002 Touring with an S54, carbon air box, 6 speed box, APs, BBS LMs and a CSL like interior?

Call me odd, but I’ve always fancied an E46 Compact in Sport trim, with full mechanical and interior conversion to match a CSL. Airbox’d and Alpha-N S54, seats, door panels, etc. And yes, I’d want it to have SMG too

Not sure I’d change the exterior too much, but a carbon roof and CSL wheels might be a nice touch, and perhaps incorporate the CSL’s front bumper and flippers somehow if it didn’t look too odd
