Hello,
I'm in the search of a F90 M5 (which will be my first M car) to replace my GLC63s coupe, hopefully in the next few weeks. Need some help deciding M5 vs M5C within my budget of £60k - looking at the current BMW approved cars, could be low mileage M5 (10-20k) or higher mileage M5C (20-30k mostly).

ACC is a must-have as I like taking my car for road trips, which also limits my options - very surprised this option is not popular and I see more basic M5 with ACC than M5C. Sunroof I'm giving up as I only see 1 M5 with it so far - this maybe not a concern for most but I will take the car for long trips (ie, plan to drive to Lyon-Nice in Aug) so wife and daughter were very against a M5, daughter actually asked why can't we get a Tesla rolleyes The comfort package is common so should be easy to locate one, premium package I like the message seat but not sure how useful it is ?

I'm eyeing one 3 basics M5's, not the best colour combo for me but probably can live with (will head down to a local dealer tomorrow to look at one, full black interior is what I am unsure of). There's plenty M5C but none with ACC - well there's one with 37k on the clock but I don't go for a car with that high mileage.

I'm in two minds atm, just get one of the M5 before my August trip to France and have some fun, or hold out and maybe rise budget say 65k for a M5C?
If you are doing long trips with family and it’s going to be a pre-LCI, then I suggest you drive both the M5 and the M5C before deciding. The M5 is likely to have the better ride in comfort mode, especially for passengers.

ACC is absolute sh*te, don't even think about it.

My M5 has just appeared with JCT BMW - traded for my Taycan CT. Mega spec and up for £62k. Love the driving assistant professional on longer trips- works brilliantly… they haven’t even mentioned I spec’d the car with it in their advert…..

Can I ask why you sold it? That's one of the cars I have been looking at...

Just wasn’t using it….Got the Taycan CT which was is just a brilliant and after 2 weeks of ownership realised it trumps the M5 as a daily for me, and amongst others have a 812 SF for when the sun out and weekend blasts (crass boast- sorry laugh). The car is absolutely immaculate (I still have the winter wheels in storage to sell later in the year). Had full detail and Gtechniq ultra coatings… there won’t be a better condition car out there as my cars are cherished, meticulously run-in and garaged when not being used. Price a little toppy though; sold it for £54k which tells you where there markets at. Dealers in for plenty profit given won’t have cost a Penny to prep, other than the cost of adding the extended warranty as an approved car.
Best of luck with your search and let us know how you get on.

Thanks. Went to a local bmw dealer today without an appointment so didn’t manage to test drive, but they have a competition model coming in next week so can try both to compare.

Yep I was looking at it, is JCT a bmw franchise dealer as I didn’t see it on bmw site and there’s no mention of warranty.

I short listed it as I see from the photos there’s the radar under the number plate so has ACC

ACC is the one option I really wished I had.
Not only for busy motorway cruising but also as the ultimate fail safe feature....If the driver falls asleep or has a medical problem while in active cruise as least it will save him from hitting anything in most cases.

If there are any other F90 M5 owners - preferably competition and preferably post LCI - here who are thinking of selling please DM me. My price range is around the 19/69 plate age range.

Needs to have or qualify to get a BMW warranty. Must be either black or grey and not have the white silverstone interior.

If you buy private and want to extend or just purchase BMW warranty, does it have to be still in warranty or can have a gap? When buying the warranty, do they check the car (As a verification rather than buying blind and not able to make use of the warranty when needed). Thanks

BMW will warranty it but it will cost more than if it had just come out of warranty.

[ETA] if you know the VIN pop it in here and it will tell exactly how much the warranty will cost:

My understanding after having spoken directly to BMW is that as long as it has been serviced every 12 months they will warranty it.

BMW's don't need servicing every Year it's TWO years.

I was told by someone at BMW warranties that an extended warranty would only be offered if the car had been serviced in the last 12 months.

Now that's different, however full BMW service history will do as long as it's up to date.

Thanks, useful link - didn’t know you can also buy different level of warranty too.

So M car service intervals are same as non-M cars? Two years or mileage - what’s the mileage interval?

It doesn’t steer the car so you will still crash if you pass out unless on straight flat road. And honestly, you end up going backwards on busy roads. Just useless except in a traffic jam. Honestly.

So have agreed a price for the Black M5C - going to see it, drive it and, assuming all checks out, buy it on Monday.

Congrats Marty. Love the Curb Your Enthusiasm reference BTW. You will be coming home in it on Monday.
