I assume its the coils. Surprising on a 23 car, but not unknown to go early given the heat they put out. S63T4 sorted a lot of stuff but not everything.

Seems likely it was a sketchy tracker install by a non BMW installer that messed up some wiring.

I am considering buying another one of these, that would be my 3rd……..

Every time I get rid I always end up realising that there isn't anything that gives this level of ‘bang for buck’ and that I enjoy owning as much 🤦‍♂️.

I was toying with selling mine for a while but it’s dumped so much value over 18 months I’m going to keep it and run it for another 3 years.

Big service coming up in 2 weeks which I’ve managed to get down to £974.

I have lost a combined £50k on the 2 I’ve had….. apparently I am incapable of learning a lesson!

I'm on my second F90C. Not quite sure what else would replace it. We tried literally everything similar and not so similar before buying essentially the same car again.

I've had 5 F90 M5 , my latest the last of them (October 2023 Ultimate), not had a problem with them and nothing comes close to them either.

Given your M5 history/expertise, John, I'd be interested to hear what you plan to get next. I'd been waiting to see if the new one would be the right move, but my view is the same as yours. Really want to find a new alternative for my f10 (tho it has been fantastic), but struggling tbh.

I've taken the f10 on 4 trips to Germany and France since October and really enjoyed it, but feeling it's time for something new, preferably v8, not too big/heavy, great handling and that sounds good. Quite tempted by f90, but might be fun to go smaller with m3/4.

May look at the M3 Touring but it may be a bit noisey inside compared to the saloon.
Could down size............not getting any younger these days, undecided.

I really fancy trying a 2020 + Audi S8 but there really aren’t that many for sale right now. tThey start currently at £67k ish and that doesn’t look like great value compared to the M5. (I know they are slightly different beasts but definitely in the ballpark of each other)

Had a test drive last year, not impressed, big heavy car sluggish gear changes, felt it's weight, economy terrible.

I also tried one this year. Was fine, decent powertrain and confort but not very interesting.

The M760LI was a better proposition. But both felt even more isolated as a driving experiance than the F90.

So is there any realistic alternative to the M5?

I can't find one, the RS6 is not any advantage it's wider/heavier slower.

Closest thing for us was the Panamera Sport Turismo, but it had little personality.
