How do some of these cars end up several months old with just 100 miles on them?

Mine had 102 on the clock since last December, but still had the protective covering on the sills and seat badges...
Some sit in stock, others are cancelled orders and some are pre-registered by the dealer to meet end of month/quarter/year sales targets. The latter mean the new owner will be the second owner on the V5.

How do they end up with 100 miles on the clock though?

And in the case of mine, registered in Dec ‘18 and no one bought it between then and May ‘19 when I bought it?

Sounds very much like the one I've just bought. South coast?
Mine was a showroom car I think.

Mine was from up North.

Story goes that mine was specced up by the sales manager to be his car and at the same time they ordered a demo car too.
Sales manager then went across the road to head up the MINI dealership so couldn’t have the M2.
So it just sat there waiting for a buyer - doesn’t explain why they all seem to have 100 miles or so on the clock though.

I enquired about a black one yesterday from a dealer on south coast yes. Listed as June 2019 registered. No longer on the website. Had the big brakes and both packs. Virtually everything except sunroof. £45,995. They had loads of interest, no surprise. Great deal though I thought it was new/pre-reg, not driven.

It’s list price would have been about £58k on today’s prices (don’t know whether there’s been an increase this year) and I got it for £45k.

I had to go to Newcastle for it - my local dealer was trying to persuade me to order a new one as ‘you’ll be the first name on the V5...’

I’d rather save the money, thanks smile
Do you have a DCT or manual car?

Is the manual regarded as the transmission of choice over the DCT?

Not going by numbers sold, and lease cost is cheaper for DCT even though its more expensive but I prefer manual.

I'm an old git who has always been a die hard manual fan.. However I'm now converted and (finally) 'get' the DCT / Flappy gearboxes and find them so

much more fun than the manuals.... Never ever thought I would say that but I would only ever consider a non manual from here on in any performance car.

Interesting post as my thoughts are now manual and not DCT

Looking at early M2’s now so trawling the classifieds.

Anyone gone from an early M2 to the new comp ?

Yes that's the one I bought. Only had the plus pack though, not the other one, so no leccy seats. I thought it was a great price considering the age and spec.

Prices on these seem to vary wildly. Anything between £46k and £56k from main dealers, all in different specs, different ages, different mileage. And the strange thing is it isn't always the older base models with higher miles with the lower prices. It seems almost random.

I asked why mine was cheap after the deal was done. Salesman said they had another waiting in line and they weren't allowed to get hold of it till this one was gone. It helped I did the deal on month end day too. I didn't push on the price as I didn't think they'd budge and I didn't want to miss it, but I did get my part ex increased and the APR lowered.
